Eye shadows add definition to your eyes and make your eye color pop out depending on what shade you go with. Irrespective of the color you choose, as long as you pair it with the right attire, you can’t go wrong with eye shadows much.
Green eye shadows are ideal to pair with contrasting or matching attire. Dark Brown, Black, Blue, Gray or Hazel Eyes work really well for different shades of green eye shadows.
I am going to use the natural ingredient Spirulina to get the green shade here. I am not adding any other mineral or harsh ingredients here.
This is a versatile and simple 2-ingredient recipe that you can tweak to your needs and preference.
Ingredients
Arrowroot Powder
Spirulina Powder
Instructions
Start with a small spoon of Arrowroot Powder and add Spirulina Powder to it.
Mix well to combine – unlike other products, eye shadows are best when dark as you apply only a pinch, so the denser the color, the more visible it is.
So, whatever shade you’re going with keep it a tad darker than that, so you’ll get the right shade when you apply.
Make sure to check the shade against your skin before bottling it up.
Once you get the desired shade, transfer to a sterilized container and use as needed.
Shelf Life
Go with the shelf life of the ingredients you use – most likely Arrowroot Powder will have a shorter shelf life, as starch tends to go bad sooner. Prepare smaller batches, as we don’t use preservatives of any kind and discard, if you notice any change in smell or texture.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can also use Cornstarch Powder instead of Arrowroot Powder, but the latter is more suited for sensitive or acne-prone skin.
You can also use Chlorella Powder along with or instead of Spirulina. Both have similar shades.
You can vary the shades by adding other ingredients to this recipe.
You can also use Talc or Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide Powder for a longer shelf life. These are mineral ingredients and have other benefits too.
You can use mica or iron oxide pigments instead of Spirulina. If you are going for shimmer go with mica powders, if you are going for matte finish iron oxides work best.
You can also add glitter to this recipe for shine and shimmer.
You can different types of mica pigments – one that offers more shine, some offer shimmer and some offer pearly or luminescent finish, etc. Choose based on what finish or look you’re going for.
How to Use?
You can use this as you would any normal eye shadow.
You can use this wet or dry, or also use it as your liner for a different look instead of boring blacks and browns.
If you are going with dark green you can also use this to fill in your brows for a bold look.
