Don’t let the ginger in the title make you think it’s a food recipe! Of course, our ingredients are perfectly edible but this a tasty and spicy body scrub recipe.

We have already covered that using a scrub is very important for keeping your skin clear. Scrub gently exfoliates the skin and gets rid of dead skin cells. It also promotes better circulation and improves skin regeneration. Using a scrub is also said to reduce the cellulite.

This recipe includes Ginger and other kitchen ingredients for an easy but effective detoxifying scrub for your body.

Let’s learn how to prepare the scrub first.

Ingredients

Mustard Oil – 1 Tbsp.

Coconut Oil – 3 Tbsp.

Grated Ginger – 1 Tbsp.

Tea Seed Oil – 4 Tbsp.

Sea Salt – 1 Cup

Eucalyptus Oil – 7 Drops

Instructions

Warm the Coconut Oil with the grated ginger pieces.

Simmer the mixture till the oil is infused with ginger’s goodness – the oil will splutter and slowly become silent after all the moisture is taken care of.

Now, add mustard oil and remove from heat.

Filter the oil and add Tea Seed Oil, Salt and Eucalyptus Oil to it.

Mix to combine.

Done!

How to Use the Scrub?

This is a full body scrub. Use it to scrub your skin with this detoxifying and moisturizing scrub by massaging it gently on your skin.

Use circular motions for best results.

You can also use a body brush for this scrub.

After you massage this on your skin let it sit for a few minutes.

Use a wet washcloth to wipe off.

The results are better if you use a warm washcloth on your face and a warm shower for your body. You can also wipe off using a warm washcloth if you don’t have warm shower option.

Wipe off any excess if you’re showering.

Follow-up with a moisturizer – even though this has coconut oil, especially if you wash it off with a soap or cleanser, or if your skin feels dry.

Done!

Why These Ingredients?

Ginger – It’s a wonderful detoxifying agent and anti-inflammatory. It soothes skin and reduces inflammation, while keeping skin disorders at bay.

Mustard Oil – I have chosen Mustard Oil as it is warming, cleansing and also helps with aches and pains.

Tea Seed Oil – Also called Camellia Oil, Tea Seed Oil is a great moisturizer and rich in antioxidants. It fights free radical damage and delays ageing skin signs like wrinkles, sagging skin, etc. It curbs sun inflicted damage and accelerates healing. Oleic acid nourishes and moisturizes skin, leaving it soft and supple. It also curbs skin blemishes and reduces skin damage.

Coconut Oil – We all know coconut oil fights microbes, moisturizes and nourishes skin.

Eucalyptus Oil – Healing, smells great, curbs ache and pains and is stimulating.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

If you have combination or acne prone skin, switch to Sweet Almond, Apricot or Jojoba Oils instead of Coconut Oil if you notice flare-up of acne or pimples.

You can use any carrier oil of your choice – Olive Oil, Sunflower Oil and Jojoba Oil are great choices.

You can add Castor Oil for added anti-ageing benefits. This is thick oil; so add it along with other oils to get the right consistency.

Frequency

You can use this scrub once a week for best results.
