DIY Light Brown Shimmering Eye Shadow

Eye Shadows add a nice touch to your makeup and make your eyes pop out when done right.

Light Chocolate Brown is always a nice color and looks good for most. I like having shades of brown for all my makeup items as they suit my skin tone well, look elegant and doesn’t catch a lot of attention. Now, are you ready for shimmering brown eye shadow?

Ingredients

Sericite – 1 ½ Tsp.
Kaolin Clay – ¼ Tsp.
Zinc Oxide – ½ Tsp.
Magnesium Stearate – ¼ Tsp.
Satin Olive Mica – as needed
Pearl Silver Mica – as needed
Bronze Mica – as needed
Smoky Gold Mica – as needed
Smoky Blue Mica – as needed

Instructions

Add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl and mix using a spatula till combined – takes 3 – 4 minutes when done manually.

Done! Transfer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

Tips for the Recipe

The Mica pigments are taken in equal quantities. Add them as you go. For Eye Shadows the color pigments are twice the quantity if not more of the makeup base.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can swap Zinc Oxide with Titanium Dioxide (this is fairly sheer and has a slight sheen with a lighter texture making the recipe better).

You can swap the Kaolin Clay for any clay of your choice – since Kaolin is a neutral color the pigment requirement might vary with the clay of your choice.

You can add a few drops of Vitamin E Oil or Argan Oil or Essential Oil to make this pressed powder instead of a loose version. Alternatively, you can use the makeup base version for pressed powders instead, which we will be adding soon.

How to Use the Recipe?

Use it like any eye shadow you have. However, this also doubles up as an Eyeliner, Bronzer or Highlighter! Want different Eyeliner? Use this instead 😉 Ran out of your Highlighter or Bronzer? Swap this instead or just use it anyway! No harm done.

The eye shadow should come out in mild chocolate brown like you’ve added more milk to your drinking chocolate 😉 with a shimmery and pearly texture.

You can cover your lids with this, or use it mildly for a smoky eyed look in brown and whatnot! For darker skin tones it works well as a highlighter too.

Who Does this Shade Suit Well?

It works great with neutral skin undertones and any skin eye color.
