Want to accelerate wound healing? Do you know a good lotion can help with wound healing?

Many experts say regular moisturization can help reduce a lot of issues. However, depending on the purpose or objective we can also add something special to improve the recipe for the results we’re looking for.

We’re looking at wound healing and toning from this lotion besides moisturizing. Let’s take a look at the recipe now.

Ingredients

Extra Virgin Olive Oil – ¼ Cup

Jojoba Oil – ¼ Cup

Shea Butter – ¼ Cup

Beeswax – 2 Tbsp.

Myrrh Essential Oil – 25 Drops

Tea Tree Oil – 16 Drops

Frankincense Essential Oil – 7 Drops

Vitamin E Oil – 2 Tbsp.

Instructions

Melt together Shea Butter and Beeswax in your double boiler.

When they begin to melt add the Olive Oil and Jojoba Oil.

Stir to combine and remove from heat when fully melted and combined.

Refrigerate for a few minutes, or as needed – the mixture should be slightly opaque but not fully hard like before.

Start whipping the mixture using your hand blender on medium high.

While shipping begin adding the Vitamin E Oil and Essential Oils.

Continue whipping till the mixture is fluffy.

Transfer to a sterilized container.

Done!

How to Use the Lotion?

Use this every night or day for best results. Take a small dollop and apply on cleansed skin. Massage the lotion into your skin. Done!

Why These Ingredients?

Myrrh and Frankincense are known to stimulate better circulation, curb irritation or inflammation and also accelerate wound healing. They form a protective layer on your skin and help with regeneration of skin, promotes collagen synthesis, improves skin elasticity and accelerates wound healing.

Tea Tree Essential Oil is a natural astringent and toner for the skin. It prevents infection and regulates skin’s sebum levels.

Shea Butter is suitable for all skin types and is nourishing and rejuvenating. It also helps with wound healing.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

Those with acne-prone skin can swap the Olive Oil for Jojoba or Sweet Almond or other suitable carrier oil(s).

You can reduce the Beeswax ratio further than what I’ve added if you’re allergic to it or have acne issues. You can also avoid it altogether and add more Shea Butter or other Body Butters instead of denser Beeswax.

The oil – butter – wax ratio can be changed around to suit your requirement and preferences better.

You can also swap these essential oils for other essential oils of your preference.

Lavender Essential Oil is a good addition to this recipe.

Shelf Life

This lasts a few months on the shelf but discard if you find the aroma or texture changing considerably. I like preparing a batch that lasts a month or two to keep it fresh and to try out different aromas.
