Many of us like to have fair skin. Nothing against it, but healthier skin is more important. The good news is that, you can get both with natural ingredients. I learnt this recipe from one of my friends and liked the results. This is a very simple, straightforward recipe inspired from Korean skincare routines.

Ingredients

Rice – 2 Tbsp.

Potato – 1

Sweet Almond OIil – 1 Tbsp.

Tangerine Essential Oil – few drops

Vitamin E Oil – 1 Tsp.

Instructions

Peel the skin from the Potato.

Wash and chop the potato into smaller pieces.

Wash the rice and add it to a bowl.

Add chopped potato to it.

Add enough water to boil and cook it.

Let it become really soft, not just cooked – if you mash it with your fingers, it should be mashed.

Remove from heat and use a strainer to filter it – when you run this cooked mixture through a strainer you get a fine paste. However, you can also grind it in your blender if you don’t want to go the long route of straining it. When you grind it, the paste is slightly gritty and the texture isn’t as smooth, but it is still good.

Let it cool down a bit. Now add in Sweet Almond Oil, Vitamin E Oil and Tangerine Essential Oil and mix well.

Done!

How to Apply the Cream?

Just take a small dollop of this cream and apply on your skin. Massage it in and you’re done! Just like any cream, it gets absorbed in no time.

Use this cream daily at least once for best results.

It not only lightens your skin, it nourishes, moisturizes and leaves your skin soft and smooth. With regular use it also lightens you skin and delays ageing skin signs.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can use any carrier oil instead of Sweet Almond Oil though Sweet Almond Oil is known for lightening the skin. Apricot Oil, or infused Oils are good options too.

You can also infuse the oil with licorice for better results, though it is optional. Note: I have mentioned adding licorice as powder here, as this cream is fully absorbed into the skin and unless infused, adding licorice root as powder can leave residue on the skin.

If you don’t like or get Tangerine Essential Oil, you can use any citrus oil for the lightening properties and energizing aroma.

You can also use Vitamin C serum instead of Citrus Essential Oils, and use other lightening or skin beneficial oils for aroma. Rose Oil, Frankincense or Helichrysum or even Lavender Essential Oils are great options for nurturing or healing skin.
