Want shimmering skin for this festive season? Shimmer and glitter go hand in hand with festivities and everyone loves to add some shimmer in their makeup.
However, I wanted to add some glamour and shine to the skin for festive look but also wanted to not compromise on the benefits or use multiple products on my skin. So, I wanted a nourishing and moisturizing product that will brighten the skin and also give it some shimmer. Well, let’s give it a shot shall we?
Ingredients
Apricot Oil – 1 Tsp.
Sweet Almond Oil – 1 Tsp.
Vitamin E Oil – ½ Tsp.
Evening Primrose Oil – 1 Tsp.
Roman Chamomile Essential Oil – 3 Drops
Rose Essential Oil – 7 Drops
Carrot Seed Oil – ¼ Tsp.
Wine Gold Mica – as needed
Silica – a pinch or two
Instructions
Gear up with dust protection for this recipe or whenever you are using minute particles like mineral makeup ingredients.
Add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl (the oils followed by essential oils).
Mix well and then add Wine Gold Mica to this – add just a tad to give shimmer, try and add more if needed.
Finally add Silica (microspheres or powder) and stir to combine.
Transfer to a pump bottle and use as needed.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can also use Sericite Mica instead of Silica but the former doesn’t give a dry finish like silica does.
You can also use Borage Oil or Grapeseed Oil instead of Evening Primrose Oil.
I love using Argan Oil for this recipe whenever I have it.
One of my friends suggested using Boron Nitride if you don’t get Silica Microspheres but I find Silica Powder a reasonable alternative.
As for the Mica Pigment choose the pigment you love best – the shimmer is just an added ingredient but you don’t need a lot. You can choose the color based on your skin tone or preference. For kids you can use glitter for the extravaganza effect glitter can give ☺
How to Use the Serum?
Shake the bottle and take the required quantity in your palm and spread across your skin rubbing in small circular motions. This should leave your skin feeling soft, hydrated and with just a hint of shimmer.
Shelf Life
Without any water or water-based ingredients this should last a good six months or more. However, go based on the shelf life of the ingredients you use too.
Why These Ingredients?
This is a fairly light and hydrating serum that leaves your skin soothed and nourished, but without the greasy effect that comes with using oils.
