Shaving is a necessity for men, irrespective of whether they go for a clean shaved look, or scruff, or beard. They have to either shave or trim to groom themselves. An after-shave is not only to smoothen the skin and hair after a shave; it’s also an antiseptic to prevent infection.
In the olden days, Alum was used for this purpose. Nowadays, we like to be more sophisticated and with that came a host of problems when buying stuff off shelves. Good thing DIY is now gaining popularity and as long as we stick to the basics, it’s good and healthy.

Why These Ingredients?
We have chosen the ingredients based on their properties, benefits and aroma. The essential oils chosen are manly so it is more suited as an after-shave. However, the benefits of the oils were also considered before picking them. The combination of carrier oils used is also chosen based on the benefits they have to offer, though you can go with one or two light carrier oils. The combination of ingredients conditions hair, makes it softer, prevents infection in case of any minor cuts or scraps, etc.
Myrrh Essential Oil – Anti-inflammatory accelerates healing and delays ageing skin signs.
Frankincense Essential Oil – Soothes dry skin, delays ageing skin signs, anti-inflammatory and calms irritated skin. It is healing and a mild oil that can be applied directly on the skin.
Patchouli Essential Oil – A calming scent that’s also healing, tonifies skin, rejuvenates and soothes dry skin.
Cedarwood Essential Oil – Soothes skin, reduces skin irritation and inflammation, nurtures dry skin and prevents cuts or bruises or peeling of skin. It also has a woodsy and manly aroma.
I have chosen a combination of nourishing and light carrier oils, though you can go with the oils that you like. Coconut Oil, Walnut Oil, Carrot Seed Oil, etc. are other options to consider. For those who want an oil-free version, stay tuned, we will be adding that shortly.
How to Use it?
