Pamper your skin with a body butter for nourishing, invigorating and rejuvenating the skin.

While body butter itself is a great way to moisturize, rejuvenate and nourish your skin, it is also an experience to use a body butter and with DIY we can craft it the way we want it.

With lockdown we have to get a little creative to keep things interesting and Jasmine is a surefire way to do that. In India and a lot of countries with ancient knowledge, Jasmine is used a lot on the eve of marriage to entice and tease.

Jasmine is not only soothing and relaxing, it is also considered as a mild aphrodisiac and women often wear these flowers for this purpose. Add that to your body butter along with other ingredients, and you’re all set for a romantic spa experience.

Ingredients

Shea Butter – 1 Cup

Jojoba OIl – ½ Cup

Vitamin E Oil – 1 Tsp.

Jasmine Essential Oil – 7 Drops

Geranium Essential Oil – 7 Drops

Instructions

Melt the Shea Butter in your double boiler – make sure the heat is on low.

Make sure you keep the heat at the lowest heat and melt the butter.

Once melted add Jojoba oil and remove from heat.

Add the essential oils after the mixture cools down a bit.

Add Vitamin E oil and refrigerate the mixture till it is slightly hard and translucent – shouldn’t be opaque or fully hard though.

Beat the mixture till it is fluffy and whipped.

Transfer to sterilized containers and use as needed.

Shelf Life

This lasts a good 3 – 6 months depending on the shelf life of the ingredients added.

If it becomes dense, whip it and use it for a fluffier and lighter texture.

If you reside in topical areas it can become slightly runny. You can refrigerate and whip it or add a little beeswax or more butter to oil ratio to prevent that.

Who can Use this?

Anyone can use the butter. It is important for those with sensitive, dry or flaky skin – it is better than moisturizer as it also creates a protective layer. It combats dryness and makes skin soft and smooth again.

It is suitable for those with normal skin but not needed twice daily or so. Just as needed.

It can be used to pamper or as winter cream for those with combination skin, or for winter blues, or the occasional dryness.

Everyone can apply this to dry or hard or calloused skin around the elbows, kness, ankles, etc.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can also use Cocoa Butter if you have dry or flaky skin.

Shea Butter makes this butter suitable for all skin types.

You can also use Kokum Butter, Mango Butter, etc.

You can use Sweet Almond Oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Argan Oil, or other carrier oils in this recipe.

As always, feel free to tweak the recipe to suit your needs, preferences and budget. Don’t have time for DIY Recipes? Try Gaya Cosmetics for your makeup and beauty requirements. Do write to us if you have any suggestions, feedback, questions or requests. We love hearing from you!
