Want a luscious chocolaty lip balm for soft and moisturized lips?

Lip-gloss is more of a necessity these days. Hectic lifestyle and haywire dieting habits wreak havoc on our skin and it reflects in the form of dryness. Dry and parched lips are often due to dehydration than lack of care. This lip gloss can soothe, nourish and moisturize your lips, so they look luscious and kissable again!

Ingredients

Cocoa Butter – 2 Tsp.

Jojoba Oil – 2 Tsps.

Sweet Almond Oil – 2 Tsp.

Vitamin E Oil – ½ Tsp.

Vanilla Extract – as needed

Dark Chocolate Chips – 7

Instructions

In your double boiler, add all the ingredients together and let them melt.

Alternatively, you can make a makeshift boiler for this recipe. You need a large pan and a small pan to heat up the ingredients indirectly – hating them directly will alter their properties.

You can also heat up water in dish and when it begins to boil, simmer and then place a tray atop the pan and steam the ingredients to melt.

Stir to combine. The entire process should take a few minutes.

Once the mixture is fully melted and smooth transfer to your lip balm dispenser.

Let it cool down and set – takes 2 – 3 hours.

Done!

How to Use the Lip Gloss?

Just like you would any lip-gloss – apply on your lips when it’s dry or parched, or just to look good 😉

You can use a sugar scrub prior to applying this for fuller and soft lips.

Use a gloss brush or wand to apply the gloss and don’t use wet or unclean fingers ever!

Shelf Life

This stays good in room temperature though can melt if you’re in tropical locations. In that case refrigerate slightly before use (if melted). This will last a good two months so prepare accordingly. However, if there is a change in texture or aroma anytime before the time is up, discard and prepare a fresh batch.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

Like fuller lips? You can add Cinnamon Essential Oil, Peppermint Essential Oil or even a dash of Cayenne for fuller lips.

You can also consider aromas that go well with Chocolate instead of Vanilla. It’s a matter of preference and liking, so go with what you like best.

You can use any carrier oil of your choice. I haven’t used coconut oil in this recipe to avoid it overtaking the luscious chocolate aroma.

You can use any butter instead of Cocoa Butter – used it here because it’s a good option and does work its magic especially when lips are really dry and need protection.

Depending on your preference you can add more or less butter, or even add beeswax for a harder balm consistency.

If you don’t want to use chocolate chips you can use other coloring agents like berry powders, fruit powders, flower petal powders, or even food colors.
