Who doesn’t love golden right? Regal elegance combined with sparkle and shimmer, golden is the real deal for sprucing up your looks.
I wanted a lighter golden to keep it subtle yet elegant. I was on the lookout for the right natural ingredients for it. I dabbled with different ingredients and absolutely loved the results I got for this one. Ready to know more?
Ingredients
Oatmeal – as needed
Lecithin Powder – as needed
Nutmeg Powder – a dash
Marshmallow Root Powder – as needed
Instructions
Basically, the oatmeal is to turn down the golden hue a little, though you hardly need a pinch or two depending on the quantity you’re working with.
In a mixing bowl add the ingredients as you go, start with Marshmallow Root Powder and Lecithin powder and temper it with Oatmeal as needed.
Nutmeg powder gives a subtle shimmer, so just a pinch or two should do. It’s a spice so I don’t want too much of it around my eyes.
Mix well to ensure the ingredients are thoroughly and evenly mixed.
Done!
Transfer to a sterilized dispenser and use as needed.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can use Mica Powders for adding shimmer to the recipe.
If you want visible impact, glitter can work their magic. Go for fine glitter, as they’re easier to work with.
You can choose ingredients according to your preference. I love to add a teensy tiny pinch of Turmeric to this, being used to Turmeric all along it doesn’t hurt my skin. But check for sensitivity before you do this for the first time. The turmeric brings out the golden better, when added in miniscule quantities.
You can use Clay instead of Oatmeal as your base, or for lightening. This also lasts longer than Oatmeal. You can use White Clay to lighten, or French Yellow Clay (my favorite for this recipe) if you manage to find it, for bringing out the golden hue better. It’s also suitable for those with sensitive skin, so use away.
Fuller’s Earth Clay is another option for this eye shadow, though it has streaks of yellow, it’s a little brown too. So check if it works for you.
You can use a binder if you want pressed eye shadow, Argan Oil if you want cream eye shadow or melted Shea Butter and Avocado Oil for cream eye shadow.
How to Use this Eye Shadow?
You can use this Eye Shadow wet or dry. If you don’t add shimmer, you can use this as under eye circles concealer or to cover up light scars!
Shelf Life
If you use Oatmeal, or other starches, prepare smaller batches and go with the shelf life listed in that product. If you use clay, it lasts forever. However, I recommend preparing smaller batches every few weeks.
