DIY Undereye Concealer

Wondering why some don’t have any under eye circles and always look nice and fresh? That my friend could be because they use a concealer to hide under eye circles!

Do you know under eye concealer is different from face concealer? The skin under your eyes is sensitive than skin in other parts of your face and should be handled with TLC. That’s why we need a different concealer to use here. Ready to prepare one for yourself?

Ingredients

Sweet Almond Oil – 1 Tsp.

Avocado Oil – 1 Tsp.

Jojoba Oil – 1 Tsp.

Raw Honey – ¼ Tsp.

Aloe Vera Gel – 1 Tsp.

Shea Butter – 1 Tsp.

Titanium Dioxide – 1 Tbsp.

Yellow Iron Oxide Powder – a teensy tiny pinch

Cocoa Powder / Brown Iron Oxide Powder – as Needed.

Instructions

To your double boiler add your oils and shea butter – Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil & Jojoba Oil.

Heat till they’re melted and combined – stir every now and then.

Once melted, remove from heat.

Now, add in the Honey, Iron Oxide Powder, Titanium Dioxide Powder and Aloe era Gel and blend together.

Add Cocoa Powder as you go and check for the right shade as you add. Test the shade to know if you’re getting there and once the desired shade is achieved, you’re done.

Transfer concealer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can use Zinc Oxide Powder instead of Titanium Dioxide Powder.

You can use Argan Oil in this recipe, though I prefer this combination after I have tried multiple combination for the results if offers – your skin will absolutely love this!

You can use Turmeric instead of Iron Oxide Powder – if you have sensitive skin, try before preparing an entire batch. Even with sensitive skin I am able to use Turmeric a lot without any problems, probably because I have used it for as along as I can remember. But a patch test isn’t wrong.

You can also add Vitamin E Oil, but Sweet Almond Oil, Avocado Oil & Jojoba Oil being rich in Vitamin E I did not add it.

You can use Brown Iron Oxide instead of Cocoa Powder. I prefer reducing mineral pigments so close to the eyes.

As for the pigment – yellow works well for dark circles with blue or purple undertones. Peach works well to tone down greenish hue while green pigment works well for pink or reddish undertones – choose your color pigment accordingly. You can skip the color pigment altogether and just go for cocoa powder alone.

Shelf Life

Since you add Aloe Vera Gel & Honey, prepare smaller batches and use them till the texture or smell doesn’t change. I usually prepare less than ½ of the listed quantity and prepare fresher batch every other week.

So, now you don’t have to wonder how everyone looks fresh and peachy always! You can look good too and the best thing about this concealer – it’s good for your skin. So don’t feel guilty about looking good.
