DIY Sunscreen Lotion

Want to use the wonderful Ginkgo Biloba extract in your skin care routine? This is a wonderful skin care aid and can be used for different purpose.

Though this is no time for using Sunscreen considering there’s much sun for the next few months, this is a nourishing skin cream and can be used anytime of the year. We’re using the Ginkgo Biloba Extract for this recipe among other things and with little tweaks you can modify it to suit your needs and requirements.

The best thing about this recipe is that it is very easy and soothing on your skin. Let’s take a look at the recipe.

Ingredients

Aloe Vera Gel – ½ Cup
Beeswax – 1 Tbsp.
Jojoba Oil – 3 Tbsp
Calendula Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Vitamin E Oil – 2 Capsules
Ginkgo Biloba Extract – 1 Tsp.
Rosewood Essential Oil – 7 – 10 Drops

Instructions

Melt Beeswax and once it melts remove from heat.

Refrigerate to cool down the Beeswax slightly but don’t let it harden again.

Now, in your blender jar add the melted and cooled Beeswax, Aloe Vera Gel, Vitamin E Oil, Ginkgo Biloba Extract, Jojoba Oil, Calendula Oil and the Rosewood Essential Oil.

Blend all the ingredients till they’re emulsified.

Transfer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

Emulsification turns out better when adding the Aloe Vera Gel and Ginkgo Biloba Extract slowly into the mixture than together for whipping.

You can use other Essential Oils of your choice for aroma or soothing and healing effect like Lavender, Roman Chamomile, etc.

Ginkgo Biloba is a natural sunscreen and added to many sunscreens for this very reason. Now you can prepare your own version and use the sunscreen safely.

You can add Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide (it is also good for those with oily skin) for added sun protection.

You can use any carrier oil including Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, Sesame Oil, etc.

For those who are allergic to Beeswax you can use other options like Candelila Wax or even use Emulsifying Wax instead.

Who Can Use this Sunscreen?

Anyone with Normal – Dry Skin can use this sunscreen.

How to Use the Sunscreen?

Apply it 15 – 20 before stepping out! Massage your skin with gentle and soft upward strokes. Done!
