Are your feet sore and rough? You need to give it some TLC and much needed soaking time to make it soft, all over again!
This is another simple but tried and tested recipe if you want soft feet.
Ingredients
Lime – 1
Olive Oil – ½ Tbsp.
Castor Oil – 1 or 2 drops
Lavender Essential Oil – a few drops
Instructions
Cut the lime into two halves.
Squeeze out the juice – you don’t need to discard it. Set it aside for your use later.
Mix together Olive Oil, Castor Oil and Lavender Essential OIl and set aside.
Done!
How to Use this Soak?
You can do this two ways – one not actually soaking but more like treating your feet to a good massage. For this, tie the two lemon halves one to each foot (after washing your feet) and let it sit for 25 minutes. During this time you can wear socks if it is easier.
After 25 minutes remove the socks and rub the rind along other parts of your feet and then massage your feet with the oil mixture. Now, wear the socks again and wait for 25 minutes.
You can rinse off, though for most part the oil would have been absorbed by your skin and your skin will feel refreshingly soft.
Another way to use this is to tie the lemon halves one each to your feet after washing your feet. Wear your socks and wait for a good 25 minutes.
After the 25 minutes are up, remove the socks and rub the rind all over your feet.
Now, soak your feet in warm – hot water for a few minutes. You can add in a little salt to the water – to prevent any possible infection.
After a few minutes rub your feet with pumice stone to get rid of the dry dead skin cells.
Rinse off your feet and pat dry. Now, apply the oil mixture you prepared and massage your feet gently.
Wear the socks again for a good 25 minutes.
Voila! Your feet are soft and supple. Isn’t it?
Tips
A regular foot soak with salt water, added cleansers (optional) with essential oils (if you like) followed by a good rubbing down with pumice stone can keep your feet soft and free from cracked heels.
Why These Ingredients?
Rich in Vitamin C lemon rinds help with exfoliating dead skin cells. You can do both ways and the results are often similar, I love the soak as it helps you relax. This way or that, you have soft and supple feet that are also healthy.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can use any carrier oil you like – Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Groundnut Oil, Sesame Oil, Almond Oil, etc.
You can also use Neem Oil – they say using neem oil regularly keeps cracked heels and microbial infestations and infections at bay. However if you’re using this, make sure to wash off real good to get rid of the herbal aroma of Neem Oil.
You can also use Orange Rinds if your skin is too sensitive for lime.
