Wondering how to prepare a Skin Serum that works? Keep wrinkles and other ageing skin signs at bay has never been this easy!
Have you heard about facial oil? Well, they’re just oil-based serum! Nothing special, but they do a good job of keep wrinkles at bay, longer.
I have always preferred to go the natural route for taking care of my skin and health. So, when I wanted a serum for my skin, I wanted it to be natural. Here’s what I came up with after a lot of trials and errors!
Ingredients
Vitamin E Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Avocado Oil – 2 Tbsp.
Hemp Seed Oil – 1 Tsp. (Optional)
Rosehip Seed Oil – 2 Tsp.
Frankincense Essential Oil – 5 Drops
Immortelle Essential Oil – 5 Drops
Rose Essential Oil – 5 Drops
Instructions
In a dark amber and sterilized glass bottle, add all the ingredients one after the other.
Shake gently and let it sit for 2 days.
Voila!
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can use Carrot Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil, etc. They’re also good ingredients for a serum. If you add Evening Primrose or Wheat Germ Oil, make sure you add Vitamin E Oil. They have lesser shelf life, just like Rosehip Oil.
Hemp Seed Oil is rich in Antioxidants and you can add a little, though if you don’t get it (it is not allowed in some countries), you can skip it.
As for essential oils, choose from Lavender, Myrrh, Spikenard, Geranium, etc. They’re all anti-ageing and smell great too!
Instead of Avocado Oil, you can also use Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil, Apricot Oil, Coconut Oil, etc. They’re all anti-ageing, so choose one carrier oil that works for your skin type.
I have used Vitamin E Oil a tad more here, though you can bring it down a notch if you want a lighter serum.
How to Use this Serum?
Take a drop of two and apply right before you hit the bed, after cleansing your face. Massage for a few seconds as you apply.
How to Store It?
You don’t have to refrigerate it, but keep it in a dark place. Essential Oils last longer and are effective when they’re not exposed to direct sunlight.
Why These Ingredients?
All the ingredients chosen are effective anti-ageing aids. They’re rich in antioxidants and keep ageing skin signs including fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, dry and rough skin, pigmentation, etc. at bay.
You can make a few changes with the ingredient list so the recipe suits your requirements and skin better. After all, DIY is all about playing and experimenting with the ingredients to find out something that works well for YOU, right? What’s the fun if you don’t do it? Besides, you might come up with a unique blend that works just right for you, when you experiment with the ingredients. That’s a plus!
