Want to pamper your body and get it some much-needed love? Try this relaxing and soothing Body Powder today!
I wanted to prepare something skin-friendly without Talc but also offer the silky, soft finish that comes with dusting some powder. If it smells nice while doing it, that’s a bonus. Isn’t it?
Powder is often a staple for many. It gives an oil-free look, makes you look fresh and of course, adds a nice sheen to your skin. However, after looking at the ingredients in leading powders decided to go the DIY route for this one too!
Ingredients
Oatmeal – 2 Tbsp.
Rice Powder – 2 Tbsp.
Baking Soda – 2 Tbsp.
Arrowroot Powder – 2 Tbsp.
Honey Powder – 1 Tsp.
Rose Petals (Powdered) – as needed.
Myrrh Essential Oil – a few drops
Frankincense Essential Oil – a few drops
Instructions
In your spice grinder, grind the Oats (if you don’t have Oatmal), Rose Petals and set aside.
If you don’t get Rice Powder (it’s finer than Rice Flour), run the Rice Flour in your spice grinder, as well.
Add all the other dry ingredients to a mixing bowl.
Now, add Rose Petal Powder – according to your preference for aroma and consistency or shade.
Once all the ingredients are mixed add Essential Oils to the bowl and mix well.
You can use a small blender for getting a homogenous mixture.
Done!
Transfer to a sterilized container and use as needed.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can use Corn Starch, Tapioca Starch or even Potato Starch Powder instead if Arrowroot Powder – use what you prefer or what works for your skin best. For me it’s Oatmeal as it soothes my sensitive skin.
The choice of flower – Rose in question for this recipe can be tweaked to suit the flower of your choice. You could choose any aromatic and skin-friendly or beneficial flowers like Jasmine, Lavender, Geranium, Arnica, etc.
Honey Powder is antiseptic, humectant and also a gentle cleanser. However, if you’re allergic or don’t prefer using Honey Powder you can skip it.
Essential Oils can be chosen according to your preference – I prefer Lavender for relaxation and soothing effect during summers and I use the body powder to get rid of sweat and sticky feeling before hitting the bed. Citrus Aromas work best to uplift your mood and energy levels. Go based on their properties and your requirements.
I have not used Talc or mineral ingredients and keep the powder simple and easy. However, you can add other ingredients like Mica for shimmer, Fine Glitter for Glittering Glamor, Titanium Di Oxide or Zinc Oxide for Sun Protection, so on and so forth.
Shelf Life
This lasts a good few months – go based on the ingredients and their shelf lives when preparing the recipe. I prepare smaller batches so I can swap the ingredients for my mood, season and requirements.
How to Use the Powder?
Just dust in your skin after a good shower and towel drying your skin! You feel fresh, dry and soft. Isn’t that great?
