Wine is a great color especially when you are not comfortable with red, or maroon and don’t want to go with browns. Wine gives that subtle elegance without the pomp and glory of red.
It is one of my favorite shades to wear and I often end up swapping between brown and wine. I also like the subtle hint of pink, maroon and the richness is something only wine color can give.
After a lot of hunting and searching, I managed to find the perfect red wine mica powder just for this recipe. So, here we go!
Ingredients
Jojoba Oil – 2 Tsp.
Cinnamon Infused Coconut Oil – 1 Tsp.
Vitamin E Oil – ¼ Tsp.
Cera Bellina Wax – ½ Tsp. -3/4 Tsp.
Wine Red Mica – as needed
Instructions
Melt the Cera Bellina Wax in your double boiler.
Remove from heat and add Infused Coconut Oil and Jojoba Oil.
Stir and then add enough Mica powder – till you get the wine color right – it will vary based on the Mica.
Transfer to Lip Gloss Dispenser.
Done!
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
I like my Lip Gloss sort of liquidish than the butterish consistency. So I use more oil and no Beeswax.
I like that Cera Bellina Wax doesn’t harden just sets it and when you apply on your lips melts – however I have added less of it and more oil. The consistency is slightly liquidish or lighter. You can add more for a firmer consistency.
I like my Lip Gloss to plump up my lips a bit, so used Cinnamon Infused Oil, though you can use any aroma you like and infuse your oil with it – coffee, rose, jasmine, cocoa, etc. You can also use essential oils.
You can use any oil of your choice – Castor Oil, Olive Oil, Sunflower Oil, etc.
If you like harder consistency like where you can use with the lip balm dispenser, you can use Beeswax or a combination of Beeswax and Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter. You can alter the ratio according to the consistency you prefer – if you want harder gloss go for less oil and more butter and a dash of wax.
You can use any color pigment of your choice. Mica powders work well if you like shimmer & Iron Oxides are good for plain finish with color. If you are using Iron Oxide, remember they’re more concentrated than Mica powders.
If you don’t want to use Mineral Pigments in your lip gloss, you can go with natural coloring agents like Beet Powder, Berry Powders, Pomegranate Powder, Rose Petals Powder, Hibiscus Petals Powder, Cocoa Powder, Spirulina Powder, or even Food Colors.
The best thing about this gloss is that is very easy and a flexible recipe that you can alter according to your preference and liking.
