DIY Pink Red Lip Stain

Want a stunning Pink Red Lip Stain? This is a very different and virant stain that’s not in your face like Electric Red. So, ready to rock it?

So, I had a stash of Alkanet Root and what better way to use than prepare are lip stain with it? Alkanet Root is a very popular ingredient in Kashmiri Cuisine, which is known for bright and colorful recipes where the color comes from adding Alkanet Root in the dishes.

The color is a dark red with hints of maroon or pink, so it looks more like a pink red, than bright red or maroon. The smell is good too. So, let’s take a look at the recipe without further ado.

Ingredients

Alkanet Root Powder – 1 – 2 Tbsp.
Coconut Oil – 20 Ml
Beeswax – ½ Tsp.
Cocoa Butter – 1 Tsp.
Sweet Almond Oil – 20 Ml

Instructions

Take a tea bag and add the Alkanet Root Powder to it.

In a double boiler, melt together Cocoa Butter, Beeswax and Coconut Oil.

When it is melting, add the tea bag to it and let the oil get infused.

Remove from heat and add the Sweet Almond Oil to it.

You can let the tea bag rest a bit if you want but you could remove it anytime after the oil is infused.

Pout to your lip balm dispenser and you’re done once it is set.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can add a dash of Coffee or Cocoa to make the tint a tad darker and also to give it a nice coffee or chocolate aroma.

You can use any oils and butters, or waxes depending on your preference and end result requirement – I wanted something slightly harder than a lip stain so I can use it right out of my lip balm dispenser. However, if you want softer consistency, go with Shea Butter and skip or reduce Beeswax.

You can add essential oils for added aroma or benefits like plumping – cinnamon or mint, etc. Make sure the oils you use are good for ingestion – no you’re not ingesting directly but you will when you wet your lips, eat something, etc.

Choose the color concentration according to your preference – I wanted a tint that’s not too opaque or bright, so it is just there and makes my lips look nice while also moisturizing them ☺

I love adding a dash of Raw Honey – keeps my lips soft and moist.

You can use any carrier oil instead of Coconut Oil and Sweet Almond Oil, including Avocado Oil, Olive Oil, Clarified Ghee, etc.

As always, try different variations and see what works for you. You can choose what color pigments work best for you. Just remember this is fairly sheer and not opaque like say lipstick.
