Getting something done for acne-prone or oily skin is quite challenging. It should be light, shouldn’t trigger acne-outbreaks or make skin more oily and most importantly, it should still do its job. Have I got everything covered?
These were just a few things on my mind when I wanted to prepare a night cream that works for me. I wanted a moisturizing night cream that would also keep acne at bay, while healing and repairing my skin.
I also wanted something that will soothe my skin, lighten marks and scars while also keeping skin supple and soft. Ready for the recipe?
Ingredients
Aloe Vera Gel – 1 Tbsp.
Evening Primrose Oil – ½ Tsp.
Lavender Essential Oil – 5 Drops
Clary Sage Essential Oil – 5 Drops
Glycerin – 3 – 5 Drops
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients and whisk to combine.
You can also your hand blender to blend the ingredients well.
Transfer to a sterilized jar.
How to Store the Recipe?
It is a good idea to prepare smaller batches and refrigerate the recipe, as we’re not using preservatives. We are also using a combination of oils and water-based ingredients. So the cream can get separated, just whisk again if that happens.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can also go with extracts of the herbs instead of oils, if you don’t want the issue with separation of the ingredients. Lavender and Evening Primrose Extracts are suitable alternatives for this recipe.
You can also use Witch Hazel in this recipe.
Rose Water is another Hydrosol you can consider, since it also helps with regulating skin’s sebum levels, keep acne at bay and most importantly, lightens marks and scars.
Why These Ingredients?
Aloe Vera not only moisturizes and soothes the skin, it also keeps acne at bay. It can lighten blemishes and marks and keeps skin soft and supple.
Evening Primrose is one of the best anti-inflammatory agents out there and anti-ageing. It is also low on comedogenic rating and hence doesn’t trigger acne.
Lavender and Clary Sage are idea for those with problematic skin. They keep skin healthy, supple and problem-free.
Glycerin keeps skin moisturized and soft.
With all these ingredients, you get a simple and effective night cream that works to keep your skin healthy and problem-free. It does the healing job at night and rejuvenates your skin, keeping it younger looking longer. What more do you need?
