Ingredients (Vegan)
Bentonite Clay – ¼ Tsp.
Vegetable Glycerin – 4 Drops
Black Mineral Powder – ¼ Tsp.
Aloe Vera Gel – ¼ Tsp. (You can add more if needed)
Essential Oil – 2 Drops
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients and whisk till they’re combined well and the consistency is smooth.
If you want a thicker or smoother consistency, you can add more Aloe Vera Gel.
Using a dropper or syringe, scoop the mascara from the mixing bowl and transfer to a sterilized mascara jar.
How to Use it?
Use it like your regular mascara. If you want to add volume to your lashes, dust them with cornstarch or arrowroot powder. It also adds more length, as well. This is a defining mascara and gives you defined lashes.
Shelf Life
This usually lasts for a few weeks. I prepare smaller and fresh batches regularly.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can add charcoal powder if you don’t get black mineral powder.
You can use any essential oil, but choose milder ones like Chamomile / Lavender Essential Oil (promotes lash growth). They’re gentle on your skin. You can skip the essential oils if you are sensitive or worried.
Recipe – 2
Ingredients
Coconut Oil – 1 Tsp.
Beeswax – 1 Tsp.
Aloe Vera Gel – ½ Tbsp.
Activate Charcoal Tablets – 2
Instructions
Heat the beeswax in a double boiler.
Add coconut oil, and Aloe Vera Gel and continue stirring till ingredients blend together and the mixture becomes smooth.
Add the charcoal tablets after crushing them to a fine powder and stir to combine.
Once the mixture is completely black, remove from heat and set aside.
Use a syringe to scoop out the Mascara and transfer it to a sterilized Mascara jar.
Alternatively, you can transfer the contents to a plastic bag. Make a small opening and then use it like a funnel to transfer the ingredients to a mascara jar.
Make sure you transfer quickly before the Mascara becomes too thick.
Use as needed.

Don’t have time for DIY Recipes? No worries, I use Gaya Cosmetics Mascara when I don’t have time to prepare my own cosmetics. Gaya Mascara adds volume, defines my lashes and gives a better look and feel. It doesn’t irritate my eyes, either. Besides, if you prefer the first vegan version, you will find it easier to just buy an organic mascara instead of going through the hassles of preparing it yourself, not only is that cheaper (since you can’t buy minuscule quantities for Mascara and you will be having raw material for a handful of batches), it is also easier that way.
