DIY Face Masks for Summer

Come summer, skin can get dry and dehydrated easily. Pampering, nourishing and moisturizing your skin is one way to nurture it back to being soft and supple.

Want to know how to do that? I like using facemasks during summer and depending on why I need them, I choose the ingredients accordingly. When I want to moisturize and hydrate my skin, Honey is one of the ingredients I would like in my mask.

When I want to cool down my skin it would be Aloe Vera I go for, or when I want to heal and repair my skin. For Dark Circles I might choose Cucumbers, for lightening skin I would go with Lemons, so on and so forth.

I might combine a few ingredients together for putting the face pack together and relax while using it. Here are a few face packs I love to use during summer.

Yogurt Mask

Yogurt can make your skin radiant, live and also lightens skin. It does all this while adding moisture to your skin and being a humectant, Honey can draw in moisture. That’s a very nice aspect considering summer can leave your skin high and dry.

Just add a Tbsp. each of Honey and Yogurt and mix well. Apply it on your face and nect and let it sit for 15 – 20 minutes before washing off.

Papaya Mask

A gentle cleanser and exfoliating agent, Papaya gets rid of dead skin cells and promotes skin repair and healing. It is also soothing on dry skin and makes skin soft and supple in no time.

Just mash a few pieces of papaya and apply it as a pack. Wash off after 15 minutes. Done!

Berry Mask

Mash a few Strawberries along with a spoon of Honey and Yogurt. Apply it on your face and wash off after 15 minutes. This pack makes skin bright, soft and also gets rid of sun tan and dark spots.

Pineapple Mask

Take a few pieces of Papaya and Pineapple. Mash them well and apply the mixture as a mask to your face and neck. Wash off after 20 minutes. This leaves face fresh, radiant and also, shrinks pores.

Avocado Mask

Add a spoon each of Olive Oil, Yogurt and Mashed Avocado to a bowl and mix well. Apply to your face and neck and let it sit for about 13 – 20 minutes. Wash off. This is a hydrating and moisturizing mask that will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth. I like using this especially when my skin feels like it needs a lot of TLC and looks lifeless and dry.

Oatmeal Mask

With sensitive skin, there are times when skin needs a soothing mask. That’s when Oatmeal can come in handy. Take a few pieces of Papaya and mash them well. Now add a spoon of Oatmeal and Honey to it. Mix well and apply to your face and neck. Wash off after 15 minutes for clean, soft and supple skin.

Honey Mask

Honey is one of the few ingredients that suit all types of skin. Add a spoon of Yogurt to it along with Lemon Juice and apply as a mask to your face and neck. Wash off after 15 minutes. This can lighten the skin and dark spots or marks when used regularly. For those with sensitive skin, substitute Orange Juice instead of Lemon Juice if this mask is making your skin irritated or inflamed.

Sumer is time for fun not to hide from the sun. I remember playing out in the sun and rain as a kid and I still enjoy my strolls during mornings and evenings. However, there are times when going in sun can leave your skin tanned, or dehydrated and dry. These nourishing packs are designed to bring back life and luster to your skin in no time.
