If you’ve wanted to prepare your own Mineral Veil, here’s your chance to try that out. A very easy and simple recipe – what are you waiting for?
There are different ways to prepare mineral veil and we’ve already shared a recipe few weeks back. This is a very simple recipe that uses items from your kitchen cabinet.
Yes, it works and cheap too. So, ready for the recipe?
Ingredients
Arrowroot Powder – 1 Tbsp.
Mineral Foundation – ¼ Tsp.
Instructions
Add both the ingredients to a mixing bowl and combine well.
Transfer to a sterilized jar once fully incorporated.
Done!
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can also use Cornstarch, finely ground Oatmeal or other starch powders including Rice Powder instead of Arrowroot Powder. Cornstarch is said to be finer but Arrowroot is more skin-friendly, especially if you have acne-prone or sensitive skin. Having that said, I don’t Arrowroot Powder coarse.
The ratio of mineral foundation powder and Arrowroot Powder depends on your skin tone and preference. Go with the ratio that works best.
You can also add a dash of facial clay – ideal for oily or combination skin. You could go with neutral clay like Kaolin or one that would give the veil a hint of hue that’s closer to your skin tone. For those with oily or combination skin, clay and mineral foundation powder works really well.
You can skip or reduce the foundation powder a great deal if you’re using it before makeup to curb oil.
Uses for the Mineral Veil?
Mineral Veil is a dusting powder that’s applied lightly either before or after makeup. It’s mostly used for setting, but it also absorbs excess oil or sweat and helps your makeup last longer – especially during summer months. With minimal – no touch up, you look fresh all day.
It also makes your pores appear smaller, which is a plus. Mineral Makeup is really popular thanks to the acne curbing properties and being hypoallergenic. It is suitable even for sensitive skin and now you can prepare right at home.
How to Use the Mineral Veil?
Depending on your preference you can apply it before or after your makeup with a Kabuki Brush for a light dusting on your skin or makeup. This works well as a dusting powder, setting powder or even in place of your primer (not as good as primer but if your requirements are simple then this works).
Don’t use makeup; just use this in place of your regular powder! It gives an even appearance and a slight tint to your skin.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is usually a few weeks – go with the shelf life of the starch you’re using. Depending on the starch powder the life can be less or more – Rice Powder or Oatmeal tend to attract bugs faster than say Cornstarch or Arrowroot Powder.
It’s a good idea to prepare a smaller batch every 2 – 3 weeks.
