DIY Coconut Bath Bombs

As we’re entering Spring, let’s celebrate the time of rejuvenation and renewal with a floral Bath Bomb.

We all love our baths and it is often linked to the season, our requirements, moods and whatnot. Spring is the time when flowers bloom and it’s colorful everywhere. What better way to celebrate spring than with a burst of flowers?

Let’s get started, shall we?

Ingredients

Citric Acid – ½ Cup
Shea Butter – 2 Tbsp.
Baking Soda – 1 Cup
Coconut Milk Powder – 1 Tsp.
Petals or Buds from Flowers – 1 Tbsp.
Kaolin Clay – ½ Tsp.
Citric Essential Oils – a few drops
Witch Hazel – a few drops

Instructions

Take the flower petals or buds of your choice and run it in your blender. This step is optional – I prefer cutting / blending the petals I use to smaller bits so it doesn’t clog the drain. Don’t grind it, rather mince it – you will get finer bits and pieces.

Add the Citric Acid, Coconut Milk Powder, Kaolin Clay and Baking Soda in a mixing bowl.

Mix then well so there are no lumps – you can use your fingers to mix.

Melt the Shea Butter and pout it into the dry mixture.

Add the essential oil and the chosen flower petals or buds and mix well.

Once everything is combined, prepare a mixture of witch hazel and distilled water and add to a spritzer.

Now, spray this to the mixture you have prepared. This lightly makes the mixture wet enough to prepare bath bombs – it should just be wet enough to hold if you take a fist of it, but not crumble if you tap it. That’s the consistency we’re going for. You can spritz more of the mixture as you go, if needed.

Once done, either prepare small balls or use a mold to cast them into a shape you prefer – like I said the mixture should hold together when you mold it, or when you make balls using your hands.

If you’re using a mold, fill the mixture into the mold, press down and remove any excess that falls out. Once done, let it dry.

Once the bath bombs are ready (if you’re preparing them as balls), layer it on a clean towel or cloth and let them dry.

Once dry transfer them to sterilized jar and use them as needed.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

The petals or buds are optional – I prefer using aromatic buds or petals like Rose, Lavender, Geranium, Lily, etc.

You can use any clay that suits your skin – I prefer the mild Kaolin Clay for most part or French Clay.

You can use any essential oil of your choice for aroma.

Also, you can swap the Shea Butter for a butter of your choice.

Just work on the right moisture levels and keep your bath bombs small – medium sizes – they work out better without cracking. Once you crack the moisture secret, your bath bombs will always turn out splendid.

How to Use the Bath Bombs?

Just add them to your bath and soak in ☺
