Lanolin
Lanolin is a fatty secreted by sheep and is obtained by sheep’s wool. It is a yellowish and viscous mixture made of esters and is deployed as a base for lotions and ointments. It nourishes and moisturizes flaky or dry skin and promotes skin rejuvenation and repair. It is an efficient emollient that is considered ideal for dry and flaky skin.
Essential Oil
Essential oil adds a nice fragrance and depending on the oil you choose offers skin-friendly benefits and is anti-bacterial.
Aloe Vera Gel
Aloe vera gel boasts considerable polysaccharides and glycoprotein and hence, used instead of water. Besides, it rejuvenates, repairs, moisturizes and restores skin health.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can use any carrier oil of your choice or preference. A few options include Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil, etc. It is a good idea to pick an oil that suits your skin type and requirement – lighter oils for acne-prone or oily skin, richer oils for dry, flaky or mature skin, etc.
Depending on your skin type and requirement, you can pick an essential oil that you like. Depending on the essential oil you choose, it imparts a nice fragrance to the lotion.
For Vegan alternative, you can substitute Lanolin with Capaucu butter. Though the texture doesn’t match Lanolin it is a close match.
You can add Zinc Oxide for sun protection.
You can add Vitamin E Oil since we add Aloe Vera (water-based) ingredient. You can add 10 – 15 drops for this recipe.
