Finding a skincare product that works for you is quite challenging – More so, if you have combination or acne-prone skin. So, here’s a moisturizer that will work wonders for you.
Acne problems are common during adolescent, but adult acne isn’t uncommon. With hectic lifestyles, most of us have skin issues. It’s acne, its dryness, or something else.
Everyone needs a moisturizing lotion, but using one with these issues is complicated. Here’s a recipe that worked for me without triggering acne outbreaks or other skin issues.
Ingredients
Aloe Gel – ½ Cup
Beeswax – 10 Grams
Sweet Almond Oil – ¼ Cup
Pomegranate Seed Oil – 7 Drops
Lavender Essential Oil – 5 Drops
Instructions
Add the Beeswax to your double boiler for melting.
When it begins to melt, add Sweet Almond Oil.
When fully melted, remove from heat and set aside to cool.
After it cools down – you can refrigerate the mixture and let it sit till it becomes lightly opaque before you start blending.
Now, add the cooled mixture to your blender and start your blender.
When blending, add the aloe gel slowly.
Continue whipping, adding in the essential oil and pomegranate seed oil.
When it begins to turn fluffy and gets the lotion texture, you’re done.
Transfer to a sterilized har.
Remember
Some prefer melting the Aloe Gel slightly along with the oils, while some prefer heating the Aloe Gel for a few seconds and then whipping. You can do that if you prefer doing it that way – I like the Aloe Gel raw.
Make sure you use your spatula to ensure all the ingredients are incorporated when you are using a blender. With oils, wax and gel, it can get tricky while blending. Make sure you scrap the sides and bottom to get an evenly incorporated lotion.
I noticed adding Aloe Gel to the mixture slowly while blending works best, instead of adding it altogether.
How to Use it?
You can use it as your moisturizer, or even as your makeup remover. It works!
Shelf Life
Keep it refrigerated and it will last you a good 2 – 3 months, if not more. I usually warm it up with my fingers before applying.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can add a few drops of Glycerin to make this lotion even more better.
While this is a moisturizing lotion, nothing wrong in prepping it up with some shimmer. This way, it can double up during the upcoming festive season. You can use Cocoa Powder for a natural tint, or mica shimmer for that grand finish.
You can substitute Beeswax with Carnauba Wax (reduce the quantity by half) or Soy Wax or Emulsion Wax. Don’t have time for DIY Recipes? Try Aya Naturals for your skincare and face care requirements today.
