Ingredients
Zinc Oxide – ½ Tsp.
Yellow Iron Oxide – ¼ Tsp. (or as needed)
Sericite – 1 Tsp.
Titanium Dioxide – ½ Tsp.
Red Iron Oxide – a pinch
Ultramarine Blue – a pinch
Instructions
Mix all the ingredients together and use as needed. You can alter the ratios depending on your requirement, preference and skin tone.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can use Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide and swap each other, or use just one of them. Both have similar properties, texture and qualities and both offer sun protection.
If you want a pressed powder consistency, add a few drops of EO of your choice, or Argan Oil and mix the ingredients without and lumps, transfer to a compact and press down.
Pointers to Remember
This beige eye shadow can double up as your foundation too.
The first two ingredients are your base, and can be used as a foundation or as your base for any mineral makeup you do.
The base here has yellow undertones and suitable for most skin tones. The ratio given here suits medium to dark skin, though you can alter the ratio to make it lighter. Or, you can use the base given in our previous recipe if you want a makeup base / foundation for lighter skin tones. You can find that base here.
Always buy non-nano Titanium Di Oxide and Zinc Oxide. Make sure the ingredients you buy are cosmetic grade and approved for use on lips, eyes, etc.
Why Use This Recipe?
You know what goes into the recipe and they’re all natural. Besides, Mineral Makeup products are gaining popularity and are widely used as they suit most skin types and particularly useful to curb acne. If you are acne-prone, mineral makeup is one way to look good without aggravating acne.
How to Use This Recipe?
You can use this as your Eye Shadow, or as a foundation. Since it is beige, you can also use it as your base eye shadow, if you go with multiple colors or layer your eye shadow.
Since this is a powder-based shadow, using a brush to apply it would be best. Dip you brush, tap off any excess and swipe across your lids.
Alternatively, you can use it as your foundation powder, just the way you would loose foundation.
This recipe is quite basic and easy to Anyways, the fun with DIY Recipes is that you can play around with them and do your own experiments and mistakes. Feel free to experiment with ratios, colors and combinations and identify what work for you best.
