Home Remedies for Dry Skin ~ Part 2

We’ve been talking about home remedies for treating dry skin. Let’s take a look at few more natural remedies for treating dry skin, shall we?

Glycerin

In a cup, combine 2 Tsp. Olive Oil, 10 Tsp. Aloe Vera Gel and 1 Tsp. Glycerin. Combine these ingredients and use them on the affected area regularly to keep dry skin at bay.

Fruit Packs

Mash together a few pieces of ripe Papaya and add 1 Tsp. of Milk Cream and 1 Tsp. of Fuller’s Earth and apply as a pack to affected skin. Wash off after 15 minutes. For some, Fulller’s Earth can be drying. If that’s the case, substitute with Oatmeal or Rice Flour instead – for gentle exfoliation of dry skin.

Mash one ripe Banana along with 1 Tbsp. of Honey and a few drops of Glycerin and apply it as a pack on affected skin. Wash off after 10 minutes.

Mash an Avocado and add 1 Tsp. of Rose Water and 1 Tbsp. of Honey and apply as a pack to affected skin. Wash off after 15 minutes.

Sugar

An effective exfoliant, sugar can exfoliate your skin and make it smooth and soft. Besides, it absorbs in moisture, so it will not leave your skin dry but hydrated. You can use white or brown sugar, in gentle circular motions to exfoliate your face. Let it sit for a few seconds before rinsing off.

Egg

Dry skin also looks dull and dehydrated. Nothing an egg can’t fix, really! Beat an Egg Yolk and add a Tsp. of Glycerin to it. Mis well and apply as a pack to affected skin. Wash off after 15 minutes for rejuvenated skin.

These are just a few simple home remedies you can use to keep your skin healthy, nourished and moisturized.

General Tips to Prevent Dryness

Dry skin can be a problem in more ways than one – it can dry and parched, leaving patches of dry skin, but the worst is when it cracks and the cracks can get infected when left unattended.

Keeping your skin hydrated and moisturized is the key to keeping dry skin at bay.

Having a regular skincare routine can also help with maintaining a soft and supple skin.

Regular exfoliation is important to get rid of dry and dead skin cells from the skin’s surface to restore skin’s shine and luster.

As mentioned earlier, excessive and long hot water showers and baths can dry out your skin sooner and also, accelerates ageing. Keep them to a minimum or use warm to tepid water instead of boiling hot water.

Last but not the least, massaging your skin once a month with oils to nourish, rejuvenate and repair your skin is a good practice. Pick oils that are available in your area and suit your skin, to make acquiring and using easier.
