DIY Maqui Blush

Did you know preparing your own blush isn’t difficult? You have many different natural options to choose from and try out. This simple and easy Maqui Blush is one such recipe.

Maqui Berry is a purple – violet colored berry and can give you flushed cheek, but instead of the traditional pink, it is a little on the purple side. When you want to experiment with colors and shades or ingredients, this is a must try.

Let’s take a look at the recipe first, shall we?

Ingredients

Corn Starch Powder
Maqui Berry Powder

Instructions

Nothing special to do here! Your base is the starch powder.

Start with a spoon of Starch or less, according to your need.

Add it to a mixing bowl and add Maqui Powder in small quantities till you get the right shade.

Mix thoroughly so there are no steaks of color or uneven pigmentation of the coloring.

Done!

Transfer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

Tips to Use the Recipe

Just use as your would your blush.

You can also use this to conceal yellowish hue to the skin, or dark circles in a pinch.

You can also use this as eye shadow.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can use Arrowroot Powder or Rice Powder or even Potato or Tapioca Starch for this recipe.

For those with sensitive skin, consider preparing your own Oatmeal and using it instead of Starch or go with Arrowroot Powder.

You can add other complimenting ingredients to get different shades or hues from this recipe.

You can also make a cream blush from this by adding oil or butter, or a combination of both. If you prepare a cream blush, this can also double up as lip or cheek stain.

I wanted to keep this natural and mineral free though adding minerals can take this to new heights. Adding Mica Powders can give you a hint of shimmer for Blush, while Glitter Powders can give you the zing needed for a catchy eye shadow.

You could also use Mica Powders or other Color Pigments based on your preference.

Alternatively, you could combine other natural color pigments to get a tweak on the shade Maqui Berry alone can give. What’s the fun of going DIY if you can’t experiment right? Think out of the box and try different options.

Shelf Life

Though the ingredients are dry the Starch Powder and Berry Powder will have a designated shelf life. So, go with that. Depending on what starch you use, it can go bug-ridden if kept longer. So work around the shelf life and prepare your starches accordingly.
