Ingredients

Copper Mica – ½ – 1 Tbsp.
Shea Butter – 2.5 Tbsp.
Avocado Butter – 4 Tbsp.
Kokum Butter – 4 Tbsp.
Starch – ½ Tbsp.
Roman Chamomile Essential Oil – a few drops

Brown

Instructions

Melt the butters in a double boiler or use a microwave. If you don’t have a double boiler, just place the butters in a mixing bowl and place in a deeper and wider pan with water in low hear. The heat generated when the water boils will melt the butters in the mixing bowl.

Let the melted butters cool down a bit and use a hand blender, or electrical blender or a mixer to beat the butters. Beat them till you get whipped butter. It will take a few minutes for smooth and even butter.

Add the essential oil, and beat for a few seconds.

Now, add the starch powder (Arrowroot powder or Cornflour or Tapioca flour). You can add ¼ Tbsp. and add more based on the consistency. The starch reduces the oily feeling and also gives a nice texture to the butter. Use a spatula to mix it into the butters.

Now, add the copper sparkle mica and mix well. You can whip to combine the ingredients evenly and thoroughly.

Transfer contents to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

I have chosen the butters based on my preference, though you can choose other butters or just stick with any butter of your preference. All the butters used here soothe your skin and delay aging. So, it is a good gift idea for your mother or friend. Though it is not anti-aging recipe, you can use it for that purpose.

I have used Roman Chamomile Oil for the mild and calming fragrance, though you can choose any essential oil with a refreshing fragrance. Make sure you don’t use citrus essential oils or other sun sensitizing oils.

As mentioned earlier, I have used Arrowroot Powder, though you can use any starch powder like Tapioca or Corn.

If you don’t want the sun-kissed look, or don’t want to use mineral products on your skin, skip the mica and use this as body butter! This combination works well for fair skin, though you can vary the mica based on your skin tone.

Since we don’t use water-based ingredients and all the ingredients have a good shelf life, you won’t need to add preservatives. Though if you are unsure, you can add a few drops of Vitamin E Oil.

Why the Ingredients?

Kokum Butter

Kokum Butter one of the hardest of natural butters and has a complex of palmitic, oleic and stearic acid content and is popular for regenerative and emollient properties. It is especially good for inflamed or ageing skin. It moisturizes and nourishes your skin and a suitable ingredient for creams, balms, lotions, salves, body butters, conditioners, etc.

Avocado Butter

It is premium butter and helps nourish and moisturize dry, rough or cracked skin. It is a great add-in for lip balms, soaps, lotion bars, body butters, lotions, etc. It is particularly good for ageing skin, though anyone can benefit from this soft butter as it is loaded with antioxidants.

Shea Butter

I have used Shea Butter, because it will not trigger outbreak of acne or pimples. It is absorbed easily and doesn’t clog pores. This has a lighter smell, so flexible with different fragrances.
