DIY Raspberry Lip Balm

We all love Raspberry and the rich hue it can give, right? I decided to try it for my lip balm for added tint and flavor.

We use lip balm for various reasons, the key one being moisturizing and keeping lips soft and luscious. Isn’t it? Besides, lip balm can fill the cracks or lines in lips and make the surface even – looks good when you apply lipstick. Also, lip balm adds a nice sheen and shine to your lips.

You can add color pigments for tint, or mica powders for shine and essential oils or other ingredients for fragrance. This means, you can double up the lip balm for tint or shine and sheen. The fragrance is a bonus, or depending on the ingredients can have benefits – like cinnamon for example – smells nice but also makes lips fuller 😉

I wanted a sweet smelling Lip Balm that would keep my lips soft and a light tint to give it a nice berry shade. I chose Raspberry and few other ingredients to get this done. So, let’s take a look at it shall we?

Ingredients

Raspberry Powder – 1 Tsp.
Olive Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Beeswax – a few Pellets
Cinnamon Essential Oil – a drop
Lemon Essential Oil – a drop

Instructions

In a double heat the beeswax pellets and when melted add Olive Oil and mix to combine.

Remove from heat and slowly add the Raspberry Powder and the essential oils after it cools down a bit.

Mix well to combine and pour into dispensers.

Done!

Why These Ingredients?

Olive Oil works wonders for your lips. It keeps lips nourished and moisturized.

Raspberry is rich in antioxidants and renders the balm a nice tint. It also reduces darkened lips and restores their natural with regular use.

Beeswax is also a moisturizing ingredient, though we use more for the texture it can give the balm – hardens the balm or gives a balm consistency depending on how much you add.

Cinnamon is a nice sweet aroma and also makes lips fuller. Lemon goes well with berries, a reason it is added here. This combination gives the lip balm a preppy and sweet scent.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can use any other color pigments including Strawberry, Blueberry, Blackberry, etc. A combination of these berries can give a nice berry hue.

You can also use other color pigments that are natural like pomegranate powder, beetroot powder, cocoa powder, etc.

You can use any essential oil of you choice – Peppermint, Lavender, Tangerine, etc.

You can also use any carrier oil including Coconut Oil.
