Having a makeup base handy, so you can whip up a makeup product at will, will make DIY easy. Isn’t it? Along the line of makeup bases, today we’re going to look at a makeup base for normal skin.
Normal skin is a blessing and there’s nothing much that would trigger issues. Pretty much anything goes and you don’t have to be very careful of what you put on your skin. However, taking care of the skin you’re blessed with isn’t wrong and will help you look young and have healthy skin.
Besides, why exploit your skin? It deserves all the pampering you can give for weathering rain and storm. Right? Here’s a simple and easy mineral makeup base for those blessed with Normal Skin.
So, let’s take a look at the ingredients.
Ingredients
Red Moroccan Clay – a pinch
Sericite – 1 Tsp.
Zinc Stearate – 1 pinch
Zinc Oxide – 1 Tsp.
Instructions
Mix all the ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Blend together using a spatula for a few minutes to combine.
Transfer to a sterilized jar.
Done!
Shelf Life
This is a dry recipe, so lasts long. However, I would go with the expiry date on the ingredients and pick the one with lowest shelf life.
I prefer smaller and fresher batches at regular intervals, than preparing a large batch and storing it.
Who can Use this Foundation or Makeup Base?
Anyone with balanced or normal skin can use this.
This suits medium colored skin – due to Moroccan Clay. However, you can swp the ingredients to suit your skin tone better – Kaolin Clay for pale skin, Fuller’s Earth for medium or wheat colored skin, etc.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can use Titanium Dioxide instead of Zinc Oxide for this recipe.
Likewise, you can use whatever facial clay suits you better – according to your skin type and skin tone.
You can also skip clay – especially if your skin is on the drier side and stick with the mineral ingredients only.
How to Use the Recipe?
You can use this as your base to whip up a quick makeup recipe – like eye shadow, blush, bronzer, foundation, etc.
You can also use this as a setting or dusting powder, as is – just tweak it for your skin tone.
You can also tweak the recipe to suit your needs – you can use different facial clays for a desired purpose – like adding a hint of yellow clay for hiding blemishes, adding a hint of red clay for hiding dark circles, etc. It will work more like your color corrector or concealer. But add just a hint, not more as you won’t be using it like a spot corrector.
