DIY Shimmering Chocolate Brown Eye Shadow

Eye Shadows are a great way to spruce up your looks, or just get that subtle and elegant look in no time. Brown is one of my favorite colors, as it is elegant, subtle but does a good job in bringing out my eyes.

I have been experimenting with different shades and colors with my raw material stash and I wanted a shimmering brown for occasions I want to look graceful and elegant.

Let’s take a look at how to do this, shall we?

Ingredients

Olive Mica – a pinch
Bronze Mica – a pinch
Brown Mica – a pinch
Gold Mica – a pinch
Smoky Blue Mica – a pinch

Sericite – a teensy tiny pinch
Moroccan Red Clay – a teensy tiny pinch
Titanium Dioxide – a teensy tiny pinch
Zinc Stearate – a drop
Magnesium Myristate – a drop

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients together and blend mechanically for a few minutes.

Make sure there are no streaks and the ingredients and color pigments are fully blended and combined.

Transfer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can make larger or smaller batches of the recipe, depending on your usage.

Zinc Oxide works instead of Titanium Dioxide.

You can use any clay based on your skin requirements, preference and shade you’re going for. If you are using White Kaolin Clay, the color pigment requirements might vary.

Remember

Mica color pigments can vary in shade with different suppliers, or they may have a different name for the pigments from what I’ve stated. Go with what you find that will match the requirements – after all, the color is just a matter of preference. The ratio and the pigment colors may vary, so alter your ratios accordingly when mixing.

Mica pigments aren’t very deep like Oxide and add shimmer to the recipe. You can opt for Iron Oxide pigments along with Mica pigments for a deeper shade, or you can increase your Mica pigment ratios to match the color requirements.

Remember to buy non-nano mineral raw materials and make sure they’re suitable for use near your eyes and lips.

How to Use the Eye Shadow?

This is a mild chocolate brown color with a hint of shimmer and silver. You can use this as your Eye Shadow, or as your Highlighter or Bronzer if your skin is dark.

You can use this as your Eye Liner, for a welcome change from Black liners.

Who can Use this Eye Shadow?

Any one with a neutral skin tone can wear this Eye Shadow. The best part about this color is that it suits all eye colors.

Shelf Life

This Eye Shadow lasts for months, so I would go with the expiry date on the raw materials used.
