DIY Caramel Body Butter

What’s not to like about adding exotic aromas to our body butter? After all, we all love chocolates, and equally love chocolate body butter! Don’t we? This time around, it is the caramel flavor 😉

I like to play around with my ingredients and come up with exotic versions of the products I apply on my skin or hair. I keep switching the aromas and sometimes, like to be a little adventurous. I have always loved the smell of caramel and add it to a lot of things including my coffee 😉

It is also a favorite with my friends and relatives who I’ve shared it with. Like the Pumpkin Spice butter, this one is a delicious treat for the body, only we don’t get to eat it!

Let’s take a look at the ingredients, shall we?

Ingredients

Aloe Vera Tincture – 1 Tbsp.
Shea Butter – 1 Tbsp.
Jojoba Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Sweet Almond Oil – 2 Tbsp.
Avocado Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Muru Muru Butter – 1 Tbsp.
Caramel Flavor – a few drops

Instructions

Melt together Shea Butter and Muru Butter in your double boiler.

When it begins to melt, add in Sweet Almond Oil and Avocado Oil.

Remove from heat and set aside.

When it cools down, stir in the Jojoba Oil and Aloe Vera Tincture. You can also add the Aloe Vera Tincture slowly while whipping. I like the results better when I do that.

Refrigerate the mixture after stirring to combine the ingredients.

When the mixture is slightly translucent or opaque but not hard, remove from refrigerator.

Add it to your blender, or the jar for hand blender and whip the ingredients.

When whipping add the Caramel Flavor and continue whipping.

When the mixture is soft and fluffy, transfer to a sterilized jar.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

The nutty aroma of the ingredients compliments the caramel flavor, though you can choose any aroma or essential oil you like instead.

Why These Ingredients?

Aloe Tincture

For those who don’t want to use Aloe Vera Gel due to stability issues, Aloe Tincture is a good alternative. However, Aloe Vera Butter or Aloe Gel works too. A healing and nourishing herb, Aloe Vera extracts are the best for your skin and even hair or scalp. Any skin issues including dryness or chapping, to Rosacea or even Eczema can be soothed with Aloe extracts.

Shea Butter

A light and nutty butter, Shea is good for both skin and scalp. It curbs dryness, moisturizes skin and reduces flaking. It also curbs ageing skin signs and promotes healing and rejuvenation of the skin.

Sweet Almond Oil

We’ve already covered about Jojoba Oil for skin, so we’re moving to Sweet Almond Oil. It is rich in Vitamin E and known for protecting skin against UV damage and replenishing and healing skin. It is light, readily absorbs into skin or scalp and makes skin supple and soft. The best thing about Shea Butter and Almond Oil is that they’re ideal for those with oily skin too, as it doesn’t trigger acne outbreaks or clogs pores. On the contrary it combats these issues. It also softens and strengthens hair and promotes hair growth. It nourishes hair follicles and controls frizz.

Muru Muru Butter

We’ve heard about Avocado Oil too, so moving to Muru Muru Butter. This is probably the first time we’re using in one of our recipes. It is an ideal ingredient for both hair and skin. Also called youth enhancer, it fights ageing skin signs, Eczema, dryness and other skin issues. It is also great for nourishing and strengthening hair and like Avocado, gives a nice sheen to your hair.

How to Use the Butter?

The best part about this recipe – feel free to use it on your skin, hair or scalp 😉

For skin, apply it in circular and upward strokes massaging the butter into your skin.

For hair, you can either apply to your strands after wash or before styling, or lightly to your scalp to nourish, moisturize and strengthen your hair.
