DIY Tinted Face & Body Lotion

So, we all know cosmetics have loads of chemicals that can harm your health in the longer run. It is scary to think that they get absorbed into the body in a matter of few seconds.

However, finding natural and chemical-free alternatives or cosmetics is challenging in most cases. They’re pricey and most have one or two ingredients that are questionable. That’s why I like to prepare smaller batches of my beauty products and use them, when I need to spruce up!

It does take a bit if experimenting, trying out different variations and ingredients, but once you find out how to work out the logistics, it becomes very easy. The best part – your skin will look good naturally 😉

So, here’s a Tinted Face Lotion that you must try – it is easy and quite simple. It similar to foundation but offers lesser coverage and is lighter. It has a slight bronzing effect, depending on the pigments you use – you can use other pigments if you want.

Ingredients

Shea Butter – 1 Tbsp.
Sweet Almond Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Jojoba Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Rose Water – 2 Tbsp.
Glycerin – 1 Tbsp.
Vitamin E Oil – 1 Tsp.
Bronze Mica – ½ – ¾ Tbsp.
Mineral Foundation Powder – 1 Tbsp.

Instructions

Melt the Shea Butter in your double boiler.

When it begins to melt, add in Jojoba Oil and Sweet Almond Oil.

When fully melted, remove from heat and let it cool down.

You can also refrigerate it to fasten the cooling down process

When it partially solidified, remove from the refrigerator and add it to your blender.

Now, start whipping.

Slowly add in the Rose Water, Vitamin E Oil and Glycerin along with Bronze Mica and Mineral Foundation Powder.

Once the mixture is fully emulsified, transfer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

Tips for Getting the Tint Right

You can modify the ratio of the mica pigment and foundation powder according to your skin tone. Apply a small dollop to your inner arm to check the shade before you finish whipping.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can also add Cocoa Powder instead of Mineral Foundation Powder, or both.

You can use one of the lotion recipes given in the site, or the lotion you are using currently, or if you have a batch of the lotions listed here in the site to make the process faster.

You can also use your mineral makeup base if you have it handy, instead of preparing the powder from scratch or using your foundation powder.

If you don’t want shimmer in your recipe, skip mica powder and opt for iron oxide pigments. Brown works best for bronzing effect, along with a few other pigments to get the shade right depending on your skin tone.

How to Use the Lotion?

Use it daily for moisturizing and adding tint to your skin!
