Hope you all enjoyed your Holidays and you’re all ready to kickstart the New Year! In most cases, well-groomed brows go a long way in enhancing your looks. That’s why I like to use eyebrow filler from time to time.
My eyebrows are thinner and often don’t catch a lot of attention. I have noticed that doing up my brows considerably improve the way I look. For this very reason, eyebrow filler has been one of my favorite projects from the time I started playing around with DIY and preparing my own makeup products.
I tried a recipe shared by one of my friends and added a tweak or two to suit my requirements and preferences better. Here’s the recipe for you.
Ingredients
Sweet Almond Oil – 2 Tsp.
Brown Oxide – As Needed
Black Oxide – a pinch
Beeswax – ¾ Tsp.
Makeup Base – ¼ – ½ Tsp.
Cocoa Powder – 1 ½ Tsp.
Activated Charcoal Powder – 1 Tsp.
Moroccan Red Clay – ½ Tsp.
Arrowroot Powder – ½ Tsp.
Castor Oil – 1 ½ Tsp.
Instructions
Melt the Sweet Almond Oil and Beeswax in your double boiler.
Make sure you grate the beeswax before you melt, if you are not using pellets. If you are using a small block, melt the Beeswax first and then add the oil when the wax begins to melt.
Once melted, remove from heat.
Add in Brown and Black Oxides and the Makeup Base you’ve taken.
Mix well using a spatula – this mixture should be a tad darker than your brows. Mine is a dark brown – black, so I have used Brown and Black Oxides. If you have lighter color or other hair colors like Brunette, choose the Oxides accordingly. Yellow Oxide a tad and more of Makeup base works for Blonde hues.
Once fully combined and blended, set aside. You can reheat if the mixture cools down and begins to harden while you’re mixing. Transfer to a sterilized jar.
In a mixing bowl, add all the second part of the ingredients namely Cocoa Powder, Activated Charcoal Powder, Moroccan Red Clay, Arrowroot Powder and Castor Oil.
Mix well – without any lumps or streaks of color. Transfer to a sterilized jar.
Done.
How to Use the Recipe?
Fill the brows using Eyebrow Fill and Spoolie Brush. Little goes a long way, so make sure you take enough on the brush, dust it on the back of your hand and then fill in your brows. Use any remaining powder to fill in again, if needed.
If you find any gaps, fill in using an Angled Brush and Eyebrow Fill Powder. Nicely shape your brows and angle them using the Angled Brush.
Once done, run the Spoolie Brush along your brows once more.
Finish off with the Eyebrow Wax and an Angled Brush. Once all the gaps are filled in and you’re done, groom with Spoolie Brush once more. Done!
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
You can add a few drops of Vitamin E Oil to the Wax. It also gives the Wax added shelf life, and more benefits for your brows.
You can substitute the Sweet Almond Oil in the wax with any oil of your choice including Castor or Jojoba Oils.
As for the color pigments, go with the color of your brows. Mine are a dark brown, closer to black, so I have used Black Oxide and more of Activated Charcoal to keep it closer to Black-Brown. However, the color pigments are your choice really. If you want a reddish hue, add Red Oxide and Orange Oxide, or bring down the Black color by reducing Activated Charcoal and Black Oxide, etc. You can also use eyeshadow instead of color pigments here.
