Homemade DIY Rose Body Butter

We all need some pampering from time to time, heh? That’s exactly what this luscious DIY Rose Body Butter is for!

The idea is to prepare a nourishing, rejuvenating and pampering body butter for soft, supple and healthy skin. I also wanted to keep the ingredients natural and simple this time around.

We’ve already seen a few body butter recipes, so the concept of the recipe isn’t new by itself. The ingredients vary slightly and like all recipes, you can twist and tweak it around to suit you best.

Ingredients

Sweet Almond Oil – 150 Ml
Beeswax Pastilles – 1 Tbsp.
Kokum Butter – 1 Tbsp.
Distilled Water – 150 Ml
Vitamin E Oil – 1 Tsp.
Rose Petals – a handful
Rose Essential Oil – 25 Drops

Instructions

The first step is to prepare Rose Water. For preparing Rose Water, fresh Rose Petals work best. You can use Edward Roses, or any Roses you can get your hands on, literally. It is the Edward Roses that give that nice aroma for Rose Water, though other Roses work close to it.

Now, heat water in a saucepan and when it almost close to boiling temperature, switch off the flame and add the Rose Petals into it. (You can also add the Rosehip, if you aren’t allergic to pollen)

Close the pan with a lid and let it sit for few minutes, till the petals lose their color fully.

Now, open the saucepan and let it cool down fully. Strain and keep the Rose Water aside.

Now, melt the Beeswax and Kokum Butter in your double boiler. When it is almost melted, add the Sweet Almond Oil and Vitamin E Oils to it. Stir to combine.

Remove from heat and set aside to cool down. You can also refrigerate it for a few minutes to fasten the process.

Once the mixtures are cooled down, it is time to get started. Add the butter and oil mixture to your blender.

Start whipping on medium-high and add the Rose Hydrosol into it (slowly) while whipping.

Add in the Rose Essential Oil and continue whipping till the mixture is fully blended and combined – emulsification of water and oils.

When done, transfer to a sterilized airtight jar and use as needed.

Why These Ingredients

Like mentioned already, we’re looking at a rejuvenating butter. So, we’ve added ingredients that will promote rejuvenation and skin repair, while also curbing ageing skin signs.

If you have acne or pimples, Rose is one of the best antidotes. Yes, Rose Water helps regulate skin’s sebum levels and curb acne, clogged pores – blackheads or whiteheads and pimples naturally. Being a natural astringent it keeps skin’s oil secretion under control and tightens your pores.

Rose Essential Oil is very gentle and also rejuvenating, delaying ageing skin signs and curbing irritation. Rich in nutrients, it also keeps skin healthy.

We have seen about all the other ingredients listed in the recipe, so we can talk about tweaking.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

We want to keep the recipe natural. So, preparing your own Rose Hydrosol or Rose Water is the best way to go. However, you can also use store-bought Rose Water for stable shelf life, especially if you don’t refrigerate the recipe.

You can remove Beeswax and substitute with another vegan wax, or a wax of your preferences like Carnauba Wax.

You can swap any of the above ingredients for your preferences, requirements or tastes.

Shelf Life

We’ve added Vitamin E Oil but no other preservative and emulsification with a natural hydrosol and no preservatives can get tricky. Either prepare a smaller batch of the recipe or refrigerate, if you want to ensure the shelf life of the recipe.
