Want to add more volume to your brows? Try this DIY Raven Black Eyebrow Powder for stunning brows.
Since I had a stash of mineral makeup raw material I got for my other projects, I was interested in using them to prepare my eyebrow powder. Since my brows aren’t really obvious, this adds volume and visibility to my brows.
I prepare small stashes, though you can prepare large or small batches according to your preference. Let’s take a look at the ingredients first.
Ingredients
Sericite – 1 Tsp.
Zinc Oxide – ¼ Tsp.
Magnesium Stearate – a Dash
Kaolin Clay – a Dash
Black Iron Oxide – a Pinch
Yellow Iron Oxide – a Pinch
Red Iron Oxide – a Pinch
Ultramarine Blue Oxide – a Pinch
Instructions
Add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl.
Combine well using a spatula.
Make sure the ingredients are fully blended or incorporated and there are no streaks – takes a couple of minutes or more.
Store in a sterilized jar and use as needed.
How to Use It?
You can also use this as your eyeliner, or as your base for Mascara.
I use this when I want a smoky look, or a dark eye shadow.
Last but not the least, you can use as your eyebrow fill for fuller brows.
Tips to Tweak the Recipe
As I have mentioned already, you could use Titanium Dioxide instead of Zinc Oxide.
I substitute Kaolin Clay with Red Moroccan Clay, especially since I like the hint of color it gives the recipe. However, you can use any cosmetic clay that would suit the end result you’re looking at. Adjust the color pigments according to the clay you choose. Clay is an optional ingredient, so feel free to skip it.
I tweak the color pigment ratios to try out different shades and combinations, or to work out the right intensity and shade. Depending on the source of the color pigments, the result can vary slightly. Add the pigments slowly and reduce or increase according to your requirement.
Remember
Always buy organic, cosmetic grade mineral makeup raw materials.
Some raw materials aren’t intended for eye makeup, so make sure to check that if you’re using it for eye makeup.
Make sure the Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide is non-nano.
Store your raw materials and label them with their expiry dates, so you don’t use them beyond the use by dates.
You can prepare smaller stashes if you don’t use makeup regularly, or if you like experimenting with different combinations.
