Who doesn’t love a kissable pillow lips, as they’re fondly called? We all do right? Here’s a DIY Lip Plumper that exactly does that for you!
Let’s take a look at the recipe before we go into how it works, shall we?
Lip Plumper – 1
Melt a tablespoon of Beeswax. When it is fully melted, add in three drops of peppermint essential oil, three drops of cinnamon essential oil and two drops of wintergreen essential oil. You can skip the wintergreen essential oil if you are worried about its toxicity and stick with peppermint and cinnamon essential oils.Transfer to a lip balm container and use as needed.
This is quite simple and you can increase or decrease the oils based on your preference. Use this like a lip balm to plump your lips while also moisturizing it.
Lip Plumper – 2
Take a few drops of coconut oil, or a dab of Vaseline. Add a pinch of cinnamon powder and mix. Apply this mixture to your lips and wipe off with a tissue after a minute or two. You can leave it for up to five minutes, depending on your plumping preference. Apply lip balm to finish off.
Lip Plumper – 3
Take a few drops of coconut oil and add a pinch of cinnamon powder and a pinch of cayenne pepper powder. Apply this mixture to your lips. After a minute or two, wipe off with a tissue or soft cloth. Apply lip balm to finish off. This will also make your lips a little pink due to flushing.
Lip Plumper – 4
Melt a tablespoon of Shea Butter. When fully melted, add 5 – 7 drops of Peppermint essential oil and mix to combine. Transfer to a lip balm container and use as needed.
How Does it Work?
Basically, the plumping comes from irritation to mucous membranes. Menthol, Cayenne Pepper, Cinnamon are all irritants and get the mucous membrane bothered – hence the plumping effect.
They also boost circulation to the area, leaving your lips a little flushed and pink. But this is a natural way to plump lips and doesn’t harm you. Besides, it is affordable and works. What’s not to like about it?
The first and last recipe works like a lip balm – so you can apply it off the lip balm dispenser and roll it on your lips. These recipes also leave your lips moisturized.
The second and third recipes rely on dry ingredients, so it might leave remnants on your lips. That’s why we wipe them off and they can be spicy – so don’t lick while they’re on your lips! Also, finishing off with a lip balm offers moisture and closes any cracks and makes your lips even.
The results last a good three hours, so if you go with lip balm style recipe, you can always reapply.
