Want to prepare your own cream eye shadow? Guess what? It is very simple and one that you can master in no time. Let’s learn it now, shall we?

I wanted a chemical free eye shadow that I can use and one that’s rich and looks great. The best part is that, the result was on par with a commercial cream eye shadow you see, without all those chemicals! Fair exchange, don’t you think?

Instructions

Melt together Beeswax and Cocoa Butter in your double boiler.

When it begins to melt, add Vitamin E Oil, Coconut Oil and Glycerin.

Remove from heat and add the color pigments.

Mix well and transfer to a sterilized eye shadow dispenser.

Shelf Life

This lasts for about 3 months, though I prepare fresh batches every few weeks.

Wait for a day or two before you start using the eye shadow as it helps the colors to stabilize.

How to Use it?

Use a clean and dry spatula or clean fingers to remove a small dollop for use and apply on your eyelids. Gently blend to get the result you want. You might have to work around with the quantity to get the right shade for you.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can increase the oil or butter quantity slightly depending on your preference and end result.

Pick and choose the color pigments of your choice. I have used a combination of Mica and Oxide Pigments, though you can also use food color for getting more variations.

You can skip Mica if you don’t want shimmer and go with Oxide Pigments alone for color.

You can swap Mica for Glitter if you want a bold glitter instead of subtle shimmer that Mica gives.

If you want a Matte finish, skip Mica and Glitter and just use Oxide Pigments. Adding a few pinches of Facial Clay can give a Matte Texture to this recipe.

If you don’t want to add Glycerin and just use the oils, butter and wax in this recipe. Then alter their ratio, as needed.

Why This Recipe?

No unknown ingredients or harmful chemicals and preservatives go into this recipe. Though it won’t last long like your commercial eye shadow, this is equally good and as long as you keep preparing a fresh batch at regular intervals, you are good.

Why do we love DIY Recipes? Right! We can customize it to our needs, tastes and preference. Play around with this recipe; go with colors and options of your liking and work around the measurements to find what’s more suited for you. It is fine!

You can prepare a few colors at the same time and then, swap them for a fresh batch of different colors. Whatever you like! I prepare a large batch of the base, divide into a few portions and add color pigments. That’s easier right?
