Did you know you can make your own eye shadow with ingredients from your kitchen?

Today, we’re going to prepare a Green Color Eye Shadow with Spinach or Sage Leaves. The idea behind this is to get a light green unlike what you get with Spirulina or Matcha.

So, all you need is a base and the Coloring Ingredient of your choice. I am going with Sage today. Let’s start, shall we?

Ingredients

Cornstarch Powder – as needed
Sage Leaves Powder – as needed.

Instructions

Take ¼ spoon of your base powder – in this case, it’s Corn Starch.

Now, add Sage Powder until you get the right shade.

Done!

Transfer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

For eye shadows, a good ratio is usually half and half of the base and color pigment for lighter shades but it can vary based on the ingredients and their source too.

You can also use Spinach though it is a tad darker than Sage, but if you are more comfortable using Spinach use that instead.

You can also use Arrowroot Powder, Potato Starch, Tapioca Starch, or Rice Powder for your base. Those with sensitive skin can also use Oatmeal instead.

Since I wanted a lighter shade I went with Cornstarch instead of my preferred Arrowroot as a base. To me, Cornstarch is denser than the slightly translucent look Arrowroot has.

You can add a few drops of Vitamin E Oil to this to make a pressed version of this eye shadow.

Why These Ingredients?

Natural and readily available in most kitchens, Sage and Spinach are good for your skin. Some feel Sage is slightly tingling, so those of you with that issue, or have sensitive skin can go with Spinach instead.

Shelf Life

It usually lasts as good as the ingredients that go into it – so check the expiry dates for the ingredients you add and go with it. I usually go with the one that has the closest expiry date and take a week or two down that to know the shelf life.

However, I recommend preparing smaller batches, as organic ingredients tend to go bad sooner than non-organic ingredients.

We don’t add preservatives so that’s another reason to be mindful of the shelf life.

What’s wrong with preparing smaller batches? After all, you can experiment with more colors and options with smaller batches!

How to Use the Eye Shadow?

You can use this wet or dry as an Eye Shadow.

Depending on the ingredients and your sensitivity you can also use this as your eyeliner after some tweaking. Since this is a lighter color you might have to keep it a tad darker if you’re not adventurous with colors.
