Gingerbread is another seasonal special of the holiday season and it’s sure an enticing aroma. What if we can use it for skin care?

For those who love Body Butter, or love to gift your near and dear Christmas themed gifts for the holiday season, you’d love this! We’re going to use Gingerbread Spice to spice up our body butter and it can’t get any better than this. Want to know the recipe?

Ingredients

Cocoa Butter – 4 Tbsp.

Sweet Almond Oil – 4 Tbsp.

Vanilla Essence – 16 Drops

Cinnamon Powder – ½ Tsp.

Ginger Powder – ½ Tbsp.

Vitamin E Oil – 1 Tsp.

Instructions

Melt Cocoa Butter in your double boiler.

Once melted remove from heat and set aside for a minute or two.

Add the Sweet Almond Oil after the mixture cools down.

Now, also add the Vanilla Essence and the Powders (Cinnamon & Ginger).

Add the Vitamin E Oil and mix to combine.

Once fully combined refrigerate the mixture for a few minutes.

Whip the ingredients using your hand blender for 7 – 15 minutes on medium high.

You should get a fluffy mixture – you should stop the blending when this consistency is reached.

Transfer contents to a sterilized jar.

Done!

Shelf Life

If you use it right, this lasts a good 6 months in room temperature.

Always use a dry scoop to remove the butter and keep the jar closed right after use.

Make sure you use an airtight container so moisture doesn’t seep in.

If you notice the contents separate stir once and see if that helps, if not whip for a few seconds to get a fluffy mixture again.

If you get a pungent odor discard the contents.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can use Shea Butter or any other Butter that you like – Kokum Butter, Mango Butter, etc.

You can add more or less oil depending on the consistency you’re going for.

I like to prepare a batch for three months at most and use so the consistency remains good throughout. But you can prepare larger batches as it makes a perfect and affordable gift.

You can use any fragrance or essential oil for this recipe. You can also use Vanilla Essential Oil or Extract for this recipe.

Also, you can substitute the powders for essential oil in this recipe – shelf life is better and they’re easier to work with.

You shouldn’t have a problem whipping after refrigeration. If your mixture doesn’t thicken up after refrigeration too while whipping, melt more butter and add to the mixture and try again. Usually equal parts work well, but it may vary based on the butter quality.

If you have sensitive skin consider reducing cinnamon, or go with a different ingredient or essential oil. Those with sensitive skin can have an issue with this butter, though it doesn’t irritate the skin is lesser quantities. Depends on the severity of sensitivity too – don’t forget a patch test. In fact, everyone should do a patch test before using any product.
