DIY Face Cream

Anyone will love getting gifts. Women love a good DIY Beauty or Skincare product as a gift, or for personal use. So, here’s an easy face cream recipe that you can try.

You can give this to your mother, or even your mother-in-law and trust me – they would love it! This leaves one’s skin soft and the smells wonderful. Let’s look at the recipe. Shall we?

Ingredients

Distilled Water – 160 Ml
Sweet Almond Oil – 180 Ml
Aloe Vera Gel – 80 Ml
Beeswax – 4 Tbsp.
Essential Oil – 10 – 20 Drops
Coconut Oil – 80 Ml

Preparation

Measure the ingredients and add them to your double boiler – coconut oil, sweet almond oil and beeswax.

In a cup, add the aloe gel, water and essential oil you chose and mix it.

Once the oils melt, add it to your blender and start it.

Pour the mixture you prepared into the blender slowly.

Continue till the ingredients are combined well – remember, emulsification? We have covered it in our previous posts.

Once done, transfer contents to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

Why Use This Face Cream?

Most beauty and skincare products are laden with chemicals. By coming up with simple and easy DIY products, you can protect your skin and also know what goes into your recipes.

The ingredients are easy to obtain and natural, so easy on one’s skin. You can tweak the recipe and mix and match ingredients to suit your preference, requirement or taste. Isn’t that great?

It moisturizes, nourishes and soothes your skin, leaving it soft and supple. Who doesn’t like that?

Depending on the ingredients chosen, it can work as an anti-aging solution.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can substitute Sweet Almond Oil with Olive Oil if you have normal or dry skin, or Jojoba Oil or Argan Oil if you have oily skin or just Coconut Oil if you don’t know what oil suits you best. Coconut oil works for most skin types.

The essential oil can be chosen based on your preference, aroma or their skin care benefits. I usually choose Lavender because the aroma is mild, calming and keeps my skin great. But any essential oil would work just fine.

If you find emulsification tricky, just skip water and Aloe Vera gel and whip up the ingredients after melting for a fluffy moisturizing cream.

It is ideal for winter or for soothing dry skin or as a general moisturizer.

Vegans can substitute Beeswax with Candelilla Wax.

How to Use It?

You can use this as a face cream in the morning for soft, moisturized and supple skin.

Shelf Life

This lasts for 2 – 3 months, or more if refrigerated. I usually add two spoons of Vitamin E oil to improve shelf life and for added benefits, though I prepare small batches.
