DIY Peach Color Corrector – For Under Eye Circles and Dark Spots

Color correctors are handy, when you want to fix a flaw that can’t just be handled with a foundation or concealer, alone. Dark Circles are a good example for this and peach corrector, is just what to need to camouflage it!

Under eye circles can be due to various reasons – not enough sleep, stress, hormonal imbalance, hereditary reasons, etc. I recommend dealing with the problem to get a real solution, as under eye circles often denote underlying issues. However, in the interim, what to do?

Under eye circles can be a real problem and when it quite obvious, it can really dent one’s self-esteem. Besides, they make one look tired, dull and worn out, even if it is the beginning of the day.

If you’ve really grown tired of how “tired” you look like and hearing it from others, it is time to use a peach corrector and hide the under eye circles. So, here’s a DIY Peach Corrector recipe for you!

Ingredients

Sericite – 1 ½ Tsp.
Titanium Dioxide – ½ Tsp.
Yellow Iron Oxide – ½ Tsp.

(This is also a foundation base, that’s ideal for darker skin tones.)

Yellow Iron Oxide – a pinch or two
Red Iron Oxide – a pinch
Manganese Violet – a smidgen
Zinc Oxide – a pinch

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients together.

Blend using a spatula manually for a few minutes, till fully combined and incorporated – takes 2 – 4 minutes.

Transfer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

How to Use it?

Dust the color corrector under your eyes to camouflage or hide your dark circles, or other dark spots on your skin. If you are using powder base, make sure you apply them finally, or after applying your cream-based ingredients. This way, your makeup won’t be smudged.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can swap Titanium Dioxide for Zinc Oxide or vice versa.

If you want a cream-based recipe, add a few drops of Jojoba Oil or Argan Oil to this recipe – I chose both as they’re non-greasy and suit even those with oily skin. However, you can use any carrier oil, including Coconut Oil.

If you don’t want to use oil, you can use Aloe Vera Gel, or your moisturizing lotion along with these ingredients for cream finish.

If you don’t want to prepare the entire recipe from scratch, and have a mineral foundation powder, you can use that instead and do the second part of the recipe – add the second set of ingredients and combine it with the foundation and use. It works the same for liquid foundation too.

The key is getting the shade right – alter the iron oxide pigments according to your requirements and preference till you get the right shade. It is a good idea to do a patch test, when you are preparing, to get the shade right.

Shelf Life

If you are going with the powder version, it lasts longer – go with the expiry dates on the ingredients.
