DIY Eczema Eraser for Soothing and Healing your Skin

Eczema is believed to be incurable, but symptoms can be managed. If you have Eczema and have been hunting for a solution, you are probably tired and weary already. Here’s a natural and effective way to deal with Eczema.

Eczema is treated with topical steroids in modern medicine. However, alternative medicine experts say they can effectively curb symptoms, and even give the individual much needed relief.

The idea is to include a combination of natural anti-inflammatories and probably aromatherapy and age old wisdom to get the combination and stuff right!

Eczema is largely linked to our minds; a reason stress or disharmony brings about a flare in symptoms. A comprehensive treatment plan would be a lifestyle change that includes regular exercises, eczema-friendly diet, improving one’s immunity and metabolism. Of course, the process could take time and during this time, one will also need topical aids for soothing symptoms and affected skin.

This is an herbal and natural cream, which can help heal and soothe the itchy, dry and bumpy patches along eczema-ridden skin. The ingredients are picked for their properties – hydration, soothing, regeneration and repair, healing and to prevent reoccurrence of symptoms. Ready for the recipe?

Ingredients

Calendula Oil – 2 Tbsp.
Shea Butter – 4 Tbsp.
Seabuckthorn Oil – 2 Tbsp.
Carrot Seed Essential Oil – ¼ Tsp.
Roman Chamomile Essential Oil – 1/3 Tsp.
Helichrysum Essential Oil – 10 Drops
Benzoin Essential Oil – 10 Drops

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients listed above.

Whip the ingredients using a stand-in or hand blender for a few minutes – till the ingredients combine well and the consistency is fluffy and whipped.

Transfer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

Note: Since the quantity of Shea Butter is less, I did not need to melt and then whip, though I shredded it. However, you can slightly melt it separately and then add other ingredients to it for whipping.

How to Use the Cream?

Take a generous dollop of the cream and apply it to your skin right after your shower. You can apply this to your towel dried, but slightly moist skin for best results. However, you can also apply to your skin anytime you need relief from itching, dryness or other symptoms. As long the skin surface is clean, you’re good to go – works best when applied on clean skin. Offers relief throughout the day, once applied.

Shelf Life

This Eczema cream lasted a good six months for me, without refrigeration. Just make sure to use a dry and clean spatula, or dry and clean fingers to remove the cream.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can substitute Seabuckthorn Oil with Coconut Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Calendula Oil, etc. Some are allergic to Seabuckthorn Oil, so it would be good to substitute if that’s the case. Also, if you are not able to get it or want cheaper alternatives, the above options will work for you.

Also, if you want to substitute one of the essential oils, you can do so – Geranium, Lavender, Neroli, Tea Tree, Thyme, Basil or even Frankincense are good choices based on their properties.
