Stretch Marks are caused by extreme weight gain, triggering excessive stretching of skin or new mothers, or those who have undergone rapid weight loss, etc. Irrespective of the reasons, stretch marks are a cause of concern for many.

So, I have tried different recipes for getting rid of Stretch Marks. The results were different and depended on the ingredients and other factors. This is one recipe that offered good results and quite simple to prepare. Let’s take a look at it, shall we?

Ingredients

Olive Oil – 4 Tbsp.
Cocoa Butter – 4 Tbsp.
Vitamin E Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Rosehip Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Hazelnut Oil – 1 Tbsp.
Helichrysum Essential Oil – 25 Drops
Lavender Essential Oil – 25 Drops
Lemon Essential Oil – 10 Drops

Instructions

In a double boiler, melt Cocoa Butter, along with Olive Oil and when melted, remove from heat.

Wait for a few minutes and when slightly cooled down, add Vitamin Oil, Rosehip Oil and the Essential Oils and mix well.

Refrigerate this mixture till fairly opaque, but not solid and then, add it to your blender and whip to get a fluffy cream.

Transfer to a sterilized jar and use as needed.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can also use Tamanu Oil, Argan Oil or Wheat Germ Oil, as they are considered as good for healing and removal of scars. If you want to replace Olive Oil with one or both of these, feel free.

V6 Oil is also considered an ideal blend for dealing with scars. I recommend using it additionally or in place of Olive Oil in this recipe.

You can also use Myrrh, Frankincense, Sandalwood and Neroli Essential Oils for getting rid of marks and scars.

If you are preparing smaller batches, Aloe Vera Gel, ACV and Green Tea Extract are good additions to this recipe.

Why These Ingredients

Olive Oil is known to help lighten or fade away scars with regular use. It is for this reason why pregnant women are suggested they start using a combination of Olive Oil and Vitamin E Oil, or Cocoa Butter to prevent Stretch Marks.

Helichrysum, also known as Immortelle is known for its ability to rejuvenate and repair skin.

Hazelnut Oil is one of the most popular oils for dealing with scars, along with Wheat Germ Oil and Tamanu Oil.

Lemon Essential Oil helps lighten marks and scars and ideal if the stretch marks are darker (red or purple).

Also called skin oil, Vitamin E oil is one of the best ingredients for numerous purposes, including its ability to deal with stubborn and old scars and marks effectively.

Rosehip Oil though pricey, is worth every single drop! It is one of the best oils for dealing with any blemishes, not just stretch marks. The best part – it is safe to use this oil even during pregnancy, like Lavender or Lemon Essential Oils. However, if you are pregnant, consider reducing the quantity of Essential Oils to keep them fairly diluted and start using after first trimester.
