Exfoliation is an important part of your skincare and beauty regime. Here’s a simple and easy exfoliating scrub for sensitive skin.

Ingredients

Oats – 2 Tsp. (Rolled Oats, Ground)
Almonds – 2 Tsp. (Ground)
Cornmeal – 1 Tsp
Honey – 1 Tsp.

Instructions

Grind the rolled oats and almond in your blender. I grind them separately due to the nature of the ingredients and varying time taken for grinding.

Now, transfer the ground ingredients to a mixing bowl.

Add cornmeal and honey to the mixing bowl.

Gently mix using a spoon and add Yogurt to get the right consistency.

Use as needed.

How to Use the Recipe?

Use gentle strokes in circular motion to apply the scrub to your skin.

Let it sit for 2 minutes.

Rinse off and pat dry.

Tips to Tweak the Recipe

You can skip the cornmeal and substitute with oatmeal.

You can use water to get the right consistency, though I like Yogurt better, especially with a sensitive skin.

Why These Ingredients?

All these ingredients are soothing and suitable for sensitive skin.

Oatmeal is a gentle cleanser and exfoliant.

Almond (ground) is soothing, moisturizing and also slightly coarse, making it an excellent option for exfoliating.

Honey is a humectant so retains your skin’s moisture and hydration and enhances it.

Last but not the least, cornmeal is soothing and cleansing.

Though you can use water, yogurt soothes the skin and nourishes it. It is also a gentle cleanser and suitable for sensitive skin.

Why Exfoliate?

Exfoliation is an important part of your skincare and beauty regimen. Many think exfoliation is only needed for oily skin but even dry skin and sensitive skin need exfoliation.

Exfoliation helps remove dead cells and brings out the new and radiant skin that’s underneath. It offers a natural glow and lightens tan and other blemishes on your skin.

You can exfoliate your entire body, not just face. It is important to remember to scrub your neck along with your face. Exfoliating your entire body can be done regularly, like once in two weeks or so.

Tips for Exfoliation

While exfoliation can’t be skipped, being gentle and choosing soothing ingredients is important when you have sensitive skin. Also, scrubbing in gentle circular motions makes sure your skin isn’t irritated.

Using warm water promotes better exfoliation as it soaks up dry skin and helps get rid of it smoothly. This is particularly useful if you have dry or sensitive skin.

Dry brushing is another exfoliation technique that promotes toned skin and better immunity. It also reduces cellulite and gives you radiant skin.

Pumice stone is ideal for exfoliating your feet. It can leave your feet soft and smooth.

Apply a moisturizer after exfoliation to soothe your skin. A light lotion or even coconut or Jojoba oil works.
